Happy New Year’s Eve! It’s cold and calm for all the party goers this evening, but that won’t last long. Winter is ready to surge back in with snow chances and arctic cold temps.

I have no changes in the Thursday system. A light snowfall will be common across the state as gusty winds and arctic temps surge in during the day. The wind chill numbers for Thursday night and Friday morning may go below zero.

Looking down the road… we continue to track a MAJOR arctic blast and storm system arriving Sunday into early next week. Someone sent me a snippet of the afternoon discussion from the NWS Louisville talking about how the European Model was trending toward the GFS with this setup. Ummmm… WHAT? You mean the same GFS that had NO Sunday storm system and had NO major arctic blast behind it until recently?? That’s a heck of a spin job. 😉

Anyway… here’s what the oh so superior GFS is now showing for Tuesday morning…

GFSNow… if we could only get the other models trend toward those numbers. Wait… you mean they were showing those kinds of numbers a few days ago while the GFS was in la la land?

I’m getting dizzy and it’s not from partaking in any beverages on this New Year’s Eve. 🙂 Here’s the song for the evening…

Happy New Year and take care.
