Good Wednesday to one and all. Much of the state is starting out this day on a frosty note with temps down into the 30s. This has been a very chilly spell of weather for the start of October. If you are thinking mother nature owes you some warmer temps… she is about to pay up as we have a gorgeous stretch of fall weather ahead.

In the short term… much of the state will be seeing readings in the 30s leading to the first widespread frost of the season. This should help speed up the fall colors over the next few weeks. Some areas this morning may hit the freezing mark or below. You can see the low temps here…

Today’s Lows

I know we have a ton of winter weather fans who visit this blog and I have a few pics to get you in the mood for what is ahead of us. It actually snowed not too far away from us Tuesday and we have the photos to prove it.

Old Man Winter is such a tease… even in early October.

Speaking of snow on the ground… the snowcover in the Northern Hemisphere continues to run above normal and that can only been seen as a great sign for the cold weather season ahead. Take a look at this map comparing the current snowcover to what is normal for this time of year…

Let’s get to the weather a little closer to home as we break down the coming weather conditions via the headlines…

– Highs today will warm into the low 70s in the west while the east sees temps into the mid and upper 60s. Skies will be mainly sunny.

– Thursday and Friday will see mainly sunny skies with temps warming into 70s for everyone. The west will see highs into the 80s.

– The weekend will see similar conditions and that will mean outdoor activities will go off without any problems at all. Make plans to go out and enjoy!

– Early next week will see some weather changes taking place as a cold front heads our way later Monday into Tuesday. This should bring us our next chance for some rain and will also knock temps back down. You can see that here on the European Model…

There is some indication this low may try to cut off somewhere across the eastern half of the country. We shall see.

That’s all you guys get today. Have a great day… GO REDS and take care.
