Good Tuesday gang and welcome to the chill of an early fall. The chilly air of late has been every bit as impressive as we have been telling you for more than a week now. Much of western Kentucky picked up the first frost of the season Monday morning with lows down into the low and mid 30s. The rest of the state is likely to get in on a kiss of frost this morning into Wednesday morning. Highs across most of central and eastern Kentucky have been stuck in the 50s for the past few days.
Take a look at the temp departures for the week ending this past Sunday…
That is a heck of a turn around from the week before that featured highs well into the 90s.
Much of central and western Kentucky will wake up to temps well into the 30s this morning leading to more frosty conditions. The NWS in Paducah totally missed the frost boat Monday morning as they failed to have advisories out. Yes… we are now watching Paducah NWS.
Clouds will linger across the eastern half of the state and this will keep temps in the lower 40s once again. The clear skies out west will allow for frost to form and I wouldn’t be surprised to get a few temps at or below the freezing mark. You can track the lows and current temps from Kentucky Mesonet…

Here is how the rest of the day is looking…
The east will continue to be cooler than the rest of the state because clouds will hang around. These clouds should have a few more breaks in them compared to the past several days. That said… a scattered shower or two will still be possible as moisture tries to wrap in from the northeast. Follow it all here…
In terms of the rest of the forecast… it is looking nothing short of great for for many days to come. Here is your breakdown…
– Wednesday afternoon will see temps warming into the high 60s to around 70 in the central and east with 70s in the west. Sunny skies will be noted for many… but the east should still see some leftover clouds.
– Thursday into Friday will see temps warm well into the 70s under mostly sunny skies.
– The weather this weekend into early next week looks awesome. Highs will generally run in the 70s with lows in the 40s. Some parts of central and western Kentucky will likely see readings around 80 or a few degrees better. You can thank the dry ground for that.
– Did someone say dry ground? I simply do not see much in the way of rain chances over the next week.
Have a great Tuesday and take care.
Since we can’t get a drop of rain, even with persistent clouds and an upper level low spinning nearby… we might as well bring back the sunshine today. It’s going to be VERY nice to see it.
It does not look like the NWS missed the boat. The low in Lexington this morning was 45. We haven’t been close to a frost yet.
It will be great to see the sun! It lifts my spirits just to see it. It was a bit early for the gloom and doom.
Chris is shaking his finger at the NWS in Paducah…not Louisville or Jackson.

The rest of 2010 could be warmer than average. IF so, that would potentially segway perfectly into a cold start to Winter like Bailey is thinking.
I suggest this site to my friends so it could be useful & informative for them also. Great effort.
