Good Tuesday to one and all and thanks for dropping in on the blog. The hot weather is back with us today in fine fashion and will stick around for the rest of the week. Yep… this is another heat wave as we close out Summer 2010 and usher in Fall here in a few days. There is some growing hope the overall pattern flips around this weekend into early next week and brings us cooler and wetter weather.

In the short term… it’s HOT!  Highs today will range from the upper 80s to around 90 in the east to the low and middle 90s across the western part of the state. Mainly sunny skies will be noted on this last full day of summer. You can track the heat here…

Today’s Highs

A cold front will dip close to the area on Wednesday and this is likely to touch off some scattered showers and thunderstorms… especially across the north. As this front checks up… it will quickly lift back to the north as even hotter air surges in here for Thursday and Friday. Highs these days will likely crack 90 across the entire region and some record highs may be threatened.

That will bring us to the weekend and some BIG changes that will be moving into the eastern half of the country. All models are now  on board for a cutoff low pressure taking up residence in the Ohio Valley this weekend into early next week. Should this pattern verify… some very cool temps and on and off rains would be likely around here. Take a look at how the European Model looks for this period…

Something like that would be EXACTLY what the doctor ordered! Beyond that… the models are still going toward the extreme weather map I have been hinting at showing up at the end of September into early October. Something tropical should come from the Caribbean into the Gulf then maybe run up the east coast as cool air dumps in behind it. We shall see.

Have a great Tuesday and take care.
