Good Sunday to one and all and thanks a bunch for dropping by the blog. Our weekend is going to planned and we are about it on a very nice weather note across the state. The nice conditions should be sticking around a while into the new week.
Saturday brought a few rounds of showers and thunderstorms to much of the area. The heaviest rains fell across southern Kentucky where some areas picked up more than 3″ of rain. This was enough to cause some local flooding problems in a few areas. Our cold front worked across the area late in the day Saturday with a line of showers and thunderstorms. The front is now to our east and does not have a big push of cool air behind it. It will bring some pleasant weather to us today as highs head into the upper 70s across the eastern half of the state with the west hitting the lower 80s.
Monday looks to be a pretty warm and breezy day as highs reach the low and maybe middle 80s with some sunshine. A very weak front will sneak in for Tuesday and knock the temps down just a bit as we see readings returning to the upper 70s and low 80s for highs.
Yet another front will swing toward us late Thursday into Friday and this one will have some moisture to work with. It should bring a decent chance for showers and thunderstorms to our part of the world and you can see that here on the GFS…
Thursday Night

I still maintain the overall pattern is taking on a much more active look to it over the next few weeks. One of the reasons is the big temperature difference seeing up so early in the season across North America…

That is quite the buildup of cold air in Canada for this time of year. If you are a fan of winter… you have got to love seeing all that cold air to our north as it should lead to a quicker build up of snowcover in Canada. This should lead to an early start to winter for us and much of the country. Uh oh… did I just throw out a winter forecast nugget? ![]()
Have a great Sunday and take care.
Nope ain’t gonna happen Chris! For us anyway, in Woodford! We didn’t get enough rain today to water the grass! The ground is still hard as a rock and then some!
Now as far as the winter hint….I’m a listning!
Good Morning, all! What a beautiful morning it is! chris, we were in that path of heavy rain yesterday morning, It rainednearly all night Friday night here, starting about 11 or so. My fathr in law’s rain gauge showed a little over 4 inches, actually. I know that there was water everywhere!
Today looks like its going to be a beautiful day! So, everyone enjoy, and have a GREAT Sunday! thanks, Chris, for all you do!
you should have thousands of new readers coming to the blog becuase john belski retired and no longer has a blog for southern indiana and north central ky so be sure when weather headlines approach you include this area just as much! thanks!
I wish you would throw out more than a “winter nugget”, lol.
I’ve heard so many different winter predictions, but I’m waiting for yours.
Thanks, CB. Appreciate this blog…and your forecasts.
dont want to get out way below normal and active pattern started too early cause then when climo is right it may swing back to mild. I’d much rather have indian summer now til mid november then get hammered with cold and snow.
And..with the addition of that large temperature contrast, it may also enhance the threat for severe weather across the midwest once it sets up.
Will the secondary severe weather season be underway earlier this year? Point to ponder…
DEY gettin whipped early on..
Only the first game, but, wow, long year ahead if the defense is this bad.
I want to subscribe to your weather reports.
