Good Wednesday, folks. We have a potentially active weather day taking shape across much of our region as a cold front works in from the north and northwest. This could lead to a solid round of strong and severe storms from late this afternoon into the evening.
Here’s a breakdown of what to expect:
– Windy and warm weather will continue ahead of the front with readings in the 80-85 degree range. Gusts of 35mph will be possible.
– A line of strong to severe storms will develop to our north and northwest later in the afternoon. This line will then dive into Kentucky by late this afternoon into the evening.
– This has the look of a damaging wind maker and that’s the primary threat. Large hail and isolated tornadoes will be possible.
– The prime time for severe storms looks to be between 5pm and 11pm.
I have you all set to track whatever comes our way…

Will the storms come with LOL? I would sure love a light show tonight.
Thanks Chris. I hate nighttime severe weather. I like to see what is coming at me, so to speak….ah well, since I won’t be able to, I will depend on CB to keep me informed and safe, as usual! 😉 Everyone have a safe and happy Wednesday…or hump day, or Friday Friday Eve…
HRRR shows a bowing line of storms forming across the Ohio River and moving into our area later. Looks like a wind event to me. There’s a loop on my website if you want to check that out (click my name)
nice looking weather page.
Yep – it is
This storm threat has alot to overcome to really get going this afternoon, a cap is in place and lots of clouds are around, so instability might not be that great, we shall see what happens later I guess?
Looks like s supercell developing north of Indy might be trying to turn right and become a tornado maker??
I’d like to know what the chances are of a derecho forming this evening.
Storms just exploded in central Indiana within the last hour cap has been broken up there. I see no reason why parts of KY wont get in on this. Louisville sitting at 84 degrees with a dewpoint at 65 thats more than ample to support severe weather with this sort of setup.
I believe you are correct the cap should break and then lookout, dew points approaching 70 in some spots, thats Alot of juice to feed storms!
That sucker is flat-out FLYING! Barely clipped us here in the Nelson Co. area, but I felt the wind against my house not even about 25 min’s ago??!
