Good Thursday everyone and thanks for blogging with us. A “fresher” brand of air has moved into the state for this Thursday and will give us a reprieve from the heat and humidity of the past several days. This is onlyΒ a break as hot and humid weather will roll in for the weekend and will likely stick around through next week.
There is an increasing chance for showers and thunderstorms to come along for the ride. More on that in just a bit.
Let’s concentrate on the good part of the forecast and that is the weather we will have today. Lower humidity levels will be with us leading to a more comfy feel. Highs will be running in the middle 80s for most areas under a partly to mostly sunny sky. Parts of western Kentucky may actually see a stray storm or two as they will be closer to a warm front.
That warm front will swing in here Friday and will bring an increase in the muggies once again. It will also boost temps to near 90 for many areas.
The 90s should become very common from this weekend into next week as each day can bring highs in the 90-95 degree range. Throw in the high humidity levels and you can easily get a “feel like” temp o 100 degrees or a little better. That is not good news for folks who work outside or don’t have air conditioning.
I mentioned the chance for thunderstorms to try to join the party and that is looking more and more like a possibility. Some popcorn storms could go up Friday and Saturday before we get into a slightly higher chance for some afternoon boomers from Sunday into early next week. You can see what I’m talking about here on the GFS…
Sunday Evening
Tuesday Evening
The core of the heat hangs out to our west leaving us in a prime spot for scattered storms. Some of the models are suggesting the heat makes more of a run at us by the middle and end of next week.
Summer is coming on strong this year!
Take care.
I don’t like hearing about the heat and humidity Chris! My work has no air and little air circulation so we’ve been sweltering! More of the same for us I guess.
well according to all the signs, the heat will swelter us, but if the poles line up just right and the axis of the moon spins right with the equatorial alignment of the earth….it wont be as hot as expected….HUH!!!…LOL>..no Im not a meteorologist, but I did sleep at a Holiday Inn express last night..LOL…LOL…LOL….LOL….
or you can look at it like this…its only 187 days til Winter!!…:)

Thanks, Chris, for the update. Yesterday turned out tro be a fairly nice day here. Humidity levels went down, and plenty of sunshine! Started today with a temp of 72, but the lower humidities make is a good day, too.
Family reunion on Saturday afternoon….of course, the heat will return! Thank goodness for swimming pools! π
Outside will not be a fun place to be this weekend. But the even worse news is that we are not even CLOSE to our hottest weeks of the year yet. July into August is normally when our high temps. peak for the year. π
check out my site to see what i think on this weekends weather. just click on my name.
I enjoy the website and comments, but one thing drives me bonkers…when folks forget to put where they are in their remarks. Many of you that have been around for a while probably know the regulars, but it can be frustrating for us ‘newbies’
Not so much needed for everyday chatter, but would be helpful when reporting observations during storms etc. just a suggestion.
And Chris you’ve got Schuck’s blog beat all to pieces. Glad I found you.
In all due respect, frankly I’m not interested in seeing ‘what you think about the weekends (sic) weather’. Don’t you know how much of an ethical breach it is to use the popularity of another person’s blog to promote yourself?
There are a few regulars on here that do this. Chris doesn’t seem to mind or I’m sure he would bring it to their attention π
Well my heat pump froze up yesterday due to being 2 lbs low on coolant. Just this past Jan, had the compressor replaced and the recharge of coolant fee was included in that. Since the start of A/C season, my air has been working, but in the hottest part of the day not maintaining temp…..finally it froze up, called for service and they charged 180 for a recharge of coolant and said there was no leak that they could see.
So if there was no leak, why was it 2 lbs low? Could it have been 2 lbs low all of this time? Should I be charged 180 dollars for MORE coolant if there is no leak?
WOW 180 bucks for 2 lbs of coolant what are they using LOL
sweet!!!!!!
good point. i guess i’ll find another way to promote my site.
Your comment is off base RE: TG Shuck. He actually does a good job.
but Chris’s is better π
Hi Jeff,
I was referring to blog action. Chris has much more information and generally much more accurate than Shuck. Can’t speak to their TV work. Don’t watch TG and can’t get Chris. Wasn’t so much a slam at Shuck as much as a prop for Chris.
It’s bull that they can’t find a leak. They didn’t try because they want to keep selling you coolant year after year. Find a difference HVAC guy. They should be using a sniffer that they pass over all the lines & connections that can detect the leaking coolant.
That is not true that there is no leak if it’s low on coolant. They just want to keep charging you year after year for the refill.
Get a different HVAC guy. They should use a sniffer that they run over the lines and connectors to detect leaks.
NOT WHAT I WANT TO HEAR!!!…I just read another outlet, saying that june and july could possibly be the hottest in the Tn. valley area since 1988 and possibly even Hotter than that..there were several days that summer my them. went over the 100 mark…:(….
I guess we pray for lots of thunderstorm activity…or everything will burn up and be brown..
