Good Sunday everyone. Showers and thunderstorms were very common across parts of the state Saturday… especially across the north and east. All of this as western Kentucky baked with temps in the low 90s and a heat index near 100. A similar setup will be with us again for the next few days.

The storms will be very efficient rain producers once again and these will likely lead to local flash flood concerns. Saturday saw several areas get hit by high water. Here are a couple of pics from the near the Carter/Boyd county line…

Would you believe a warning was never issued for the flooding you see in those pics? Of course you would because those counties fall under the jurisdiction of the NWS in Charleston, WV and we all know their lackluster track record.

Any storm that goes up today will have the chance to put down enough rain to cause some problems and a few of the storms may even pulse up and become severe. Track the boomers here…

I wish I could say today will be the end of the storms… but I can’t. More action will be with us into the first part of this week meaning the threat for more flooding and strong storms will be with us. The humidity levels will continue to be off the charts as well.  Overall… the summer forecast title of “Humid and Stormy” is off to a fast start!

I will have updates as needed so check back today. Have a great Sunday and take care.
