Good Sunday everyone. Showers and thunderstorms were very common across parts of the state Saturday… especially across the north and east. All of this as western Kentucky baked with temps in the low 90s and a heat index near 100. A similar setup will be with us again for the next few days.
The storms will be very efficient rain producers once again and these will likely lead to local flash flood concerns. Saturday saw several areas get hit by high water. Here are a couple of pics from the near the Carter/Boyd county line…
Would you believe a warning was never issued for the flooding you see in those pics? Of course you would because those counties fall under the jurisdiction of the NWS in Charleston, WV and we all know their lackluster track record.
Any storm that goes up today will have the chance to put down enough rain to cause some problems and a few of the storms may even pulse up and become severe. Track the boomers here…
I wish I could say today will be the end of the storms… but I can’t. More action will be with us into the first part of this week meaning the threat for more flooding and strong storms will be with us. The humidity levels will continue to be off the charts as well. Overall… the summer forecast title of “Humid and Stormy” is off to a fast start!
I will have updates as needed so check back today. Have a great Sunday and take care.
WOW! that was some impressive flash flooding…or probably DE-pressing for the folks who lives in that house.. hopefully no one will have to indure those conditions today.. although some garden showers would be nice in my area..especially as hot and humid as it is..im not a big fan of the sticky humidity…
well once again the SPC has us out of the slight risk category we will see how that works for them again today
i really think we will have our first named storm and possibly hurricane in the next couple weeks. i talk about this on my site. check it out!!!! http://dangerousskies.wordpress.com/

The visible sat. channel is beautiful tonight. But you have to watch before sunset! 😉 You can see the ring of storms swirl all around us.
I wonder if LMK would like to retract that last AFD update they issued? 🙂 Radar is lit up like a Christmas tree, and this stuff is NOT staying north of us.
🙂
