Good Sunday, folks. Rounds of showers and thunderstorms continue to take aim at the region and this action will increase over the next few days. This action looks more concentrated than what we had last week and will deliver some decent rains to the bluegrass state.
Scattered boomers will crank up today with a mix of sun and clouds. We will need to watch for a few strong storms developing with high winds and hail possible. Storms will also contain a lot of lightning and torrential rainfall.
Outside of storms, temps will make a run into the upper 80s to around 90 for some.
Monday will feature more of the same, but with better coverage of the showers and storms. The storm action continues to increase throughout the week…
Any one day can feature a few strong or severe storms that can put down a lot of rain in a short amount of time. The overall trend of the 10 day models shows the potential for heavy rainfall…
Loving this cool, wet summer. Looking forward to more coolness and wetness.
Hating this hot, dry summer. Not looking forward to more heat and humidity. Its all about where your at in the Commonwealth its either feast or famine in the precipitation department.
As far as coolness goes Louisville will be going for there 7th consecutive day of 90 degrees or better they will more than likely hit that mark today and will hit 8 consecutive days of 90 degree by tomorrow with ease.
Yeah, it’s been neither cool or wet around here. The 10 minutes of rain I got Thursday was the third rain since May 1. We should hit mid 90’s again today so no relief On a bright note, this morning was the first since last Sunday to drop below 70 at my house, so there is that.
Yes, I know. It’s not much fun to see model map after model map, week after week, and never see it come anywhere close to reality (much like the past winter). Even the “BLNDSQRL” model would have found a way to work out by now.
Couldn’t have said it better
Cool summers don’t make us appreciate the coolness of fall. So, I say let’s have some heat this summer. Especially after that ridiculously cold winter we just came through. Heat miser, do your thing.

I have access to one of these. I’m sure it could be easily configured to point at your residence during the day.

Morning all. We got a little rain yesterday here but not much. Our yard is starting yo look dry and a bit brown in a few spots. I would welcome some rain here but I don’t want a flood that runs off. At least it is looking like a better chance for the entire state this week. As for the heat, well folks it’s summertime. I would rather be warm than having to wear long sleeved shirts in July and August. But that is just me. I will take whatever we get and enjoy and make the best of it! Have a great Sunday everyone and thanks Chris for doing what you do.
where is my summer version of Alaska blocking pattern.
I thought we might have many days with temperatures in the 70’s for highs.
I was thinking that last week too!
As for here in my part of Lexington, rainfall has been normal to above normal mainly because of the past 2 severe storms wishing the past 4 weeks. They were isolated and dropped a motherboard of rain at my house. (Other parts of Lex have gotten almost nothing.) I had over 2 inches from each storm. Temperature wise, we’ve been about average to slightly above average. Oh, and when people talk about a cool summer, it doesn’t mean 70s or anything. All it means is a not as hot summer (because usually when temps are down, humidity is up.) Yes, there are always those rare, very cool days in the summer with highs in the 70s, but it is not the majority of summer.
What exactly is a “motherboard” of rain?
Sorry, couldn’t resist. 🙂
If its above 80 and humid it is hot, sorry reptiles, that’s just the facts!
Its been in the upper 80s to low 90s for week now in most of KY, that is above normal for this time of year, look it up 😉
At least it’s not 2012 summer dry…..yet. :/
Agree, not a bad summer yet, my yard did get 1.6 in. Rain last week so that’s a good thing, of course we got some serious storm damage to go with it 🙁
I’m paying for keeping my AC on 71!
My KU bill was 140 dollars, and we didn’t even really have a major heat wave.
I can second that one. I keep my heat on about 66 in the winter and the air on 74 or so in the summer. The 66 about bankrupted me this past winter!
I keep my heat on 65 sometimes 64 in the winter and use electric blankets…….because I like cold better than hot……..and even keeping it on 65, the electric bill was STILL pretty high but it was crazy cold last winter.
