Good Tuesday, everyone. It’s the pattern that simply will not give up… hot and humid conditions with rounds of showers and thunderstorms. As the title mentions… this is not a recording. Maybe I should just put it on auto-pilot for a while? I could use the time off, but refuse to let you guys down. 🙂
The showers and storms today be aided by a slow moving system riding across the Ohio Valley. That means a few strong storms with torrential rains are likely across the entire state. Follow the action with all the tracking toys…
The daily threat for showers and storms will be around for the foreseeable future. That doesn’t mean it will rain every day where you live, but the chance is certainly there. Most of the state will pick up a nice drink of water before the week is through.
What happens after this? The GFS still shows a couple of dips in the jet stream over the next week and change…
While the model has been overdoing the amount of cool air behind these dips… this type of setup basically means storm chances show no signs of letting up.
Have a great day and take care.
Had rain miss to my west twice yesterday afternoon and evening and to my east last night. Hope we can get a good general rain today. Some areas are getting drenched other areas are parched.
Thanks Chris. We finally got about 2 tenths of an inch of rain at my house last night. We really needed it! Hope we can pick up some more today. And no auto pilot for you my friend. We need your sense of humor on these hazy summer days! ;). Thanks for all you do for us Chris. Have a great Tuesday everyone. Remember, today is a blank page….write something good on it!!!
Thanks for the positive energy and words of wisdom Coffee Lady! Hope you have a good one.
I agree Coffee Lady! We all need to remember the manners we were taught as children. I am so tired of all the hate speech. Thank you and have a great day! Our little garden also needs the rain. I love summer rain.
Yea, this time of year might as well copy and paste. Hot, humid, scattered storms.
watching the storm line coming out of the West
I hope Louisville can hit the fade or the splitter
Chris, it was good seeing you on the TV yesterday evening. That’s not something I get to do very often living as I do in the Cincinnati market.
I returned home yesterday evening to the threat of storms but they skipped by to the northwest. Typical of the pattern we are in that shows no signs of letting up.
Just heard a report of a tornado on the ground south west of Indy, radar is picking up a ball of debri with this, that’s not good!
I was watching radar for Cincinnati a little while ago and saw a warning box pop up North East of Indy…didn’t think anything of it at the time but now that you mention it that was a tornado warning box. Hopefully no damage, no injuries.
There was damage unfortunately northern burbs of Indy.
Actually surprised to see and hear the damage reports out of Indy apparently was a rain wrapped tornado but it did damage. The wind fields/shear was not that impressive up there to support a damaging tornado nothing off the charts flukish in my opinion.
Yea, NWS Indianapolis at this time is calling it an EF1. Click link here.
As has been mentioned before, the more powerful twisters this time of year tend to be closer to the Great Lakes and upper plains. Past recorded history shows there have been no Kentucky twisters stronger than F2/EF2 from about mid-June until Oct. Tennessee has had only a single F3 during this same timeframe.
Today’s rain so far seems to be underperforming in central KY today!
Hopefully a good rain tonight?
I only managed to get a spritz of rain today in my neck of the woods. Basically a trace at best, yesterday afternoon/evening I did get some beneficial rains. Definitely could stand to get more but I’ll take what I can get at this point.
My area got a tropical downpour a couple hours ago, if you can get under some of these it really puts down alot of water in a hurry!
I spoke to soon just got in on some more beneficial rain.
yeah I’m finally happy myself.
I got me some rain today.
Thankful for 1/2 an inch, hopeful for more. It seems the rain was not as widespread as anticipated, at least in my part of the state, still VERY scattered.
I can dig this weather 365
