Good Tuesday everyone. We are coming off a Monday that had me thinking about doing a little tailgating since the weather felt more like September that June. The nice weather isn’t going to be sticking around as the muggy air is ready to surge back into the area in a big way over the next few days. The arrival of the humid and almost hot air will be accompanied by showers and some booming thunderstorms.
There is a bit of good news and that concerns the weather for today. The threat for a cluster of storms to come rolling our way is GREATLY diminished as that stuff looks to stay more to our north. There is still a threat for a stray storm across the north… but we should see mainly dry weather. Temps will be a bit tricky as we will see a nice swing from west to east. The west will be well into the 80s as the east struggles to the upper 70s to low 80s.
Low pressure will head into the lower Great Lakes Wednesday and will drag a front down into the region. This front will have plenty of moisture and energy to work with and this will likely lead to widespread showers and thunderstorms…
NAM Wednesday Afternoon
If we can get some breaks in the clouds during the day… some of these storms could go severe with damaging winds and large hail being possible. Here is the latest severe weather forecast for Wednesday from the Storm Prediction Center…
The hot and humid air will really begin to crank around here by the end of the week into the weekend. Highs will flirt with 90 for a couple of days. Scattered thunderstorms will go up each afternoon as well. This happens as a big ridge of high pressure anchors itself off the southeastern coast as a deep trough digs into the west. Eventually this pattern should lead to a humid and wet pattern into much of the central and eastern US next week.
Take a look at just how widespread the heavy rain is on the two week rainfall forecast from the latest run of the GFS…
That is a lot of real estate getting in on some good rains over the next few weeks. Again… not the summer for anyone to be talking about a drought. Well.. not right now, anyway!
I will update as needed so check back. Have a great Tuesday and take care.
I know most of you are gonna say WHAT? when I say this but..here we go, LOL..I hope we can get in on some WIDESPREAD soaking rains, my backyard has missed out on ALL of the heavy soakers in the past 2 wks..or so, I have had some scattered stuff, but nothing to soak the ground. so hopefully those of us who have missed out lately will have a chance to catch up. because my grass looks alot better green than brown..LOL…everyone have a great day!
my yard sure could use some of those widespread soakers. I’m one of the unlucky ones, when its come to those summer soakers of lately. They’ve been oh so close, but yet so far away…so HOPEFULLY my yard can play catch up over the coming weeks..looks alot better green than brown…LOL..
If this system doesn’t bring good rains to KY tomorrow, I’m going to start digging the sprinklers back out.
But when it is brown you dont have to mow and get RED! lol 🙂
Add me to the Crispy lawn list. Other than weeds, I have nothing left. We have seen several 5-10 minute showers since early May, but not much else. The baseball diamond was like a desert Sunday, with dust blowing everywhere.
This was an amazing article. You made my research a good deal uncomplicated.
