Good Friday everyone and welcome to the weekend. If you are a regular here on the blog… you already know we like to start the weekend a day early. The weekend is going to get off to a rather rainy and stormy note for many areas with some of that hanging into the first part of the weekend.

Low pressure is weakening out as it rolls in from the west today into Saturday. Showers and thunderstorms will be with us today across most of the area. It will not rain the entire day… but the threat will be there at any given time and place. There is a ton of moisture streaming in here so heavy rains are a good bet. Given how wet the ground is in some areas… we need to keep an eye on the high water potential. That is especially true for areas that get repeat shower and thunderstorm action.

The threat for severe weather today is also with parts of the state… mainly across the central and western sections. Here is the latest outlook from the Storm Prediction Center…

Latest Day 1 convective outlook

Track the showers and storms here…

The NAM continues to show the slow movement of the rains…

This afternoon

This Evening

The axis of heaviest rains will move east by Saturday…

Areas outside of the showers and storms will see temps quickly soar into the 80s! Speaking of soaring… our thermometers and humidity levels will do just that through next week. It is going to be a VERY warm and humid last full week of May! There should also be the threat for some afternoon boomers going up each day.

By the way… we mentioned several days ago to watch for the tropics to try to come to an early life. Keep an eye off the southeastern coast over the next several days.

Have a great Friday and take care.
