Good Tuesday everyone and thanks for dropping by the blog. Monday brought another round of severe thunderstorms and heavy rains to parts of the state. Some areas picked up more hail and wind damage while others got in on more flash flooding. Our soggy pattern we have been in since late April looks like it will continue the next few days before kicking it up a notch by the end of the week into the weekend.
Low pressure continues to slowly weaken out across the region today. More in the way of showers and maybe a rumble of thunder or two will be with us today. Locally heavy downpours will be possible and, if you had flooding where you live over the past few days, keep an eye on water levels today.
You can track the rains here…
Highs today will be on the cooler side with most areas in the 60s. That cool air will hang around into Wednesday as our low pressure slowly works away from us. A few more showers will be possible as well.
Once into Thursday… we should actually get a decent day for much of the region. Clouds will increase from west to east during the day as another slow moving low pressure works toward the area. Showers and thunderstorms will work in late in the day across the west then will overspread the region Thursday night into Friday. With deep moisture kicking in… heavy rains willbe possible yet again and this could lead to some problems from Friday into Saturday.
Here is the GFS…

Looking ahead to next week… we should go into a warm and humid pattern that would carry us toward Memorial Day Weekend. The medium range computer models are also hinting that the tropical season may try to come to life a little early this year.
I will have updates as needed. Take care.
Everybody go out and vote today if you are registered to do so.
Three things in life that are certain:
1 – Death
2 – Taxes
3 – IF a computer model has the slightest sniff of a snowstorm for Kentucky or a tropical system in the Atlantic Ocean in the Spring, Chris will mention it. 😉
Chris, where do we stand on precip now for the year? I know a couple of months ago we were way behind, but I gotta believe we’ve caught up and then some!
Thanks for the great work you do on this blog. You are the FIRST place I look for the BEST weather info. Started reading your blog this winter on the recommendation of a co-worker and have not been disappointed.
Well, hopefully, we can get some sunshine for a little bit, anyway…I don'[t want the rains to just go away, but I DO wish we could get three or four sunny days in a row….put that order in for us, Chris, okay? 😉
Thanks we really had some downpours last night with thunder.
Yes everyone please get out and vote, what a wonderful privilege it is.
Thank you for being here for us Chris.
Oh, I would love to see some sunny days too.
Shockingly, most places are still behind, but not by much.
Some spots in the state might still behind in terms of rainfall…but my neighborhood is not. I feel like I’m living in South America in a rain forest here…lol. Hope we get some dry weather next week!.
ended up with .12 inches between last night and today
