Good afternoon everyone. The instability from some breaks in the clouds is leading to thunderstorms blowing up across parts of the state. Some are already going severe across parts of southern and western Kentucky. A new Severe Thunderstorm Watch is now out until 9pm.
Here is a look at the counties included in the watch…
Large hail and damaging winds will be likely from these storms as they roll across the region. Torrential rains could lead to flash flooding concerns. You can follow the warnings here…
Track the storms here on radar…
I will update as needed and will use Twitter for rapid updates on the warnings. Follow me @Kentuckyweather to get these updates sent straight to your phone free of charge. You can also see these in my twitter feed in the top right hand corner of this blog.
Take care.
In Hazard, we had one part of the sky blue, the other dark clouds. We had a downpour from the dark side. (Sounds like a movie title) LOL
just as I predicted over hour or so ago, tx CB!!
You all should check out my site to see what I think on today’s severe weather and other weather.
Does anyone reading this blog have Directv with their locals in HD? The reason I ask is for the past week or so, WKYT HD has been sort of “skipping” occasionally, not pixelation. I’ve only witnessed this on this ONE channel. Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this. Thanks
YES I HAVE DIRECTV
AND YES I HAVE NOTICED THE PROBLEM OCCASIONALLY
I have Windstream, and have noticed it on that channel as well….and no HD.
I have Directv and also have a problem with 27 but also with 56 but only in HD. I haven’t checked the SD 27 or 56 yet. But I think it is a local channel problem and not Directv.
Very bad storm in Clay County…lots of lightening!
Hmmmmm Thanks guys!
All my local on Direct are in HD, except the CW :(…..Anyway, I don’t notice this on Fox 56…Just WKYT….Last night when I watched Survivor it was quite annoying.
EAS for Time Warner cable just came on air with Last Saturdays storm warning for Madison county. A little late I think. With Storms in the area at the time I think it was a BAD Thing. Gets a person confused. WAKE UP Time Warner. Not to mention it screwed up the last episode of the year for House. IF IT would of been the real thing it would of been alright
Yeah, wasn’t too happy about that either. Not really surprised coming from Time Warner.

Yes, my local channels have kind of blacked out for a second or few seconds and then they come back on. Also, a kind of odd thing happens like a vcr would do if it were wearing out. I thought my receiver might be tearing up. But I really notice this on the local stations.
We had a couple of storms, but I just went outside and the sky is as clear as a bell! Moon is shining, and the stars look like they have just been polished!
Hail was north of us tonight. We had wind, thunder and lightning, and rain, but no hail.
