Good Monday to one and all. The weekend weather was not the best in the world as showers and some thunderstorms were on the move across much of the region. These put down more in the way of heavy rains as we continue build up quite the amount of water in the ground around here and that could be an issue with more rounds of rain likely over the next week. Overall… the next week is not going to look very pretty.
That is not to say we won’t have some days that feature some decent weather… because we will. Today is likely to be one of those days. But, just like in real estate, it is all about location! Some breaks in the clouds will be noted across the area today as low pressure moves through. As we get some peaks of sun… we should destabilize the atmosphere and allow for thunderstorms to fire up. Some of these could be strong or severe. The Storm Prediction Center has much of our region in the risk area…
Damaging winds and large hail will be the main players once again. These storms will also have the potential to produce torrential rains that could lead to some local flash flooding.

Much cooler air will then filter into the area on Tuesday as the overall setup resembles something you would see more in the winter than late spring. That is low pressue across the Ohio Valley that gives way to a bigger low just off the east coast. The temp map for Tuesday will be cool to look at as you should actually be able to see the circulation around the low pressure across our region. Slightly warmer temps will be noted on the front side of the low with some cool air flowing in behind it. Check out the NAM temp map for Tuesday afternoon to see what I am talking about…
Showers will be with us yet again Tuesday and a few of those may hang tough into Wednesday to go along with more cool air. This low will finally begin to pull away by later Wednesday. That is the good news. The bad news is another low will move in to take its place for the end of the week and that low may hang around into the coming weekend. This should be a warmer system than the current one and can bring another round of two of heavy rain producing showers and storms… at least!

You get the idea… the next week or so is not going to win any beauty contests. That is something the week of weather and your friendly weather dude have in common. But… we do keep things interesting.
I will have updates as needed today as we watch for thunderstorms to break out. Have a great day and take care.
Thanks Cris! Wow, a cool, rainy week.
Thanks for letting us know. Have a great day.
Really getting sick of the wet weather. I don’t want a drought like we’ve had in recent years, but this is too much.
I’m not seeing anything today that would justify the slight risk complete overcast and the indices aren’t even near severe levels. we’ll see though they know a few more things than I do in Norman.
how highs da water momma,,,, 6 feet and RISING…
sun back out, look for some stronger pop up storms in next couple hours
