Good Thursday gang and welcome to a day more fitting for the middle of July than the middle of May. Temps and humidity levels are both going to soar today as warm and humid air surges in from the south and southwest. The threat for a few scattered thunderstorms will be with us during this time as well. Get used to hearing that.
Our warm front will continue to slide to our north today… thunderstorms will be along this front and the best risk area for some of those storms to sneak in will be across the north. As a matter of fact.. the Storm Prediction Center has the slight risk area for severe thunderstorms barely getting into our northern counties…
Most of the region should miss out on the storms today as the bulk of the action will be to our north. But… we will watch to see if a few sneak in here. Follow any action on regional radar…
Highs will hit the mid and upper 80s this afternoon and with the humid conditions… it will feel muggy!
A fairly strong cold front will sweep in here on Friday and this front will have a lot of moisture to work with meaning more rounds of showers and thunderstorms. Just like Wednesday…. these will have the potential to put down some very heavy rains that can cause some local high water problems.
Some of those could also be severe and the SPC has much of the region in the slight risk area…
The front will barely clear our region as it pushed into Tennessee and puts the brakes on for Saturday. This should give us some very nice weather with highs in the 70s and some sunshine. Low pressure will develop along the front to our southwest by Sunday. This will cause clouds to increase around here and showers and storms won’t be far behind as those should get in by Sunday night and Monday as the low works into the western Ohio Valley.
Here is what the GFS is seeing…
Monday Afternoon
Monday Evening
That setup could lead to more strong storms and heavy rains. Did you expect anything less with the current pattern? haha
Have a great Thursday and take care.
Thanks for the update Chris. Everyone have a great day.
