Good Sunday afternoon everyone. A significant flood event is underway across much of Kentucky with the highest impact being central and western parts of the state. A SLOW moving band of showers and thunderstorms has set up shop in a southwest to northeast fashion across the area and this is dropping a tremendous amount of rain.

Check out the amount of rain that has fallen since  midnight…

Much of central Kentucky is closing in on 4″ since midnight and that is going on top of the 2″ or so of rain from Saturday. This is causing major flash flooding for much of this region with numerous roads closed and homes and businesses being threatened.  The situation may get much worse before it gets better as I don’t think this line is going to move very much until we get into the evening hours. If anything… more in the way of thunderstorms may start to fire up along the leading edge of this band. You can watch the conveyor belt of moisture here…
