Good Monday everyone. The weather may be on the ugly side out there today… but just wait until you smell what the rock is cookin’ up for you for the rest of the week into Easter Weekend. Some serious warmth is on the way as we kick off the month of April. This has been alluded to for a while on the blog as something that was likely to happen once we got a few cold shots in here to erase the Canadian cold.
Before we get to the good… we have the bad and that is today. Occasional showers will be with us for the first half of the day especially. Winds will be breezy and temps will be on the cool side. You can track today’s showers here…
So just how good does it look after today? Take a look…
Tuesday will see temps warming into the low and mid 60s after a cold start. Then we say hello to the 70s and likely the 80s by the end of the week into your upcoming Easter Weekend. The good news doesn’t stop there… the warmth comes along with mainly sunny skies!
A strong ridge of high pressure will anchor itself across the southeast coast and is likely to hang around there for a long while. This means the jet stream takes a dive into the western part of the country giving folks out there a taste of the chilly stuff. In between… an increasing threat for severe weather across the plains states. Here is some of my cheap art work for you…
That’s all you need to know today. Have a good one and take care.

Sounds wonderful Chris!!!
Congrats to UK Hoops!!!! Looking forward to watching the women bring home the title!
Also……The Derby nears!
AHHHHHHHHH! Spring in KENTUCKY!!!
I’m glad it’s going to be nice, but we barely had any rain from these last two systems, now a HIGH is parking there in the southeast for a long while. UGH…I hope we don’t have a bone dry summer.
I call dibs on selling sunscreen at Keeneland on opening day! Those folks are gonna FRY.
MarkLex, I thought the exact same thing…ugh, a ridge of high pressure on the southeast coast. I’ve been watching the rain totals in the paper and we are way behind for the year. I don’t know when things started to dry up after last year being so wet. Our yard is looking a bit weedy and not so grassy, if that makes sense. We don’t do all the fancy stuff with our yard so it’s just the natural grass. When it’s dry, the weeds grow better than the grass.
7:30 ft thomas its pouring rain still 🙁 I want that one last snowstorm but its looking more and more like a dream. but the 80s do sound nice but the pattern right now is depressing rain and dreary for 3 days then 1 ok day 🙁 need some colorado sun, and snow
sunshine and 80 degrees sounds like what the doctor ordered to me!!!
With this pattern setting up, it looks like there will quickly be drought concerns to deal with. Lexington is running almost 3″ below normal rainfall for March as it is.
I’d like to see enough rain to water the crops and keep a drought away, but we had way too much last summer.
Usually balances itself out, last year was incredibly wet, this year will probably be really dry..
Props for the not so subtle WWF reference.
(I got the “E” out. hah)
It’s interesting because even though this was the “coldest Winter since the late 1970s”…November, December, and March all came in above average temperature-wise. April looks like it’ll come in warm, unlike the recent years as well.
Very cloudy in Danville. Not much of a day to walk around with your shoes on. Cold Grass!
Danville is very cloudy! Not much for walking around outside in the bare feet. Ready for the Easter Bunny and some eggs.
Thanks for the update, Chris. Just got a chance to read the blog, and I must say, I REALLY like what I read!
And, I agree with you, Patty. I hope to watch the UK hoops (aka Lady Cats) bring home the big one! Here is hopeing to see them in the final four after tomorrow night! GO HOOPS!!!!
We got a pretty good amount of rain yesterday. Guess it was spotty, and we were in the right spot!
Chris, I keep trying to comment, but I keep getting moderated….but I am here, reading, anyway!
You might be able to walk around outside this weekend. I live in Parksville and just wondering do you live in Perryville or close to Parksville?
