Good Thursday everyone and thanks for dropping in on the blog. The weather over the next 24 hours is going to be cool to watch as we have everything from 60s and the chance to thunderstorms… to near freezing temps and the chance for some snow… then a quick transition to sunshine and milder temps. Buckle up for the ride.

Low pressure will quickly work in from the west today. Out ahead of it… temps will be very warm the farther east you go with readings well into the 60s in the east before the rain works in. There will be just enough instability to produce a few thunderstorms into parts of the region late this afternoon or this evening and you can follow the action here…

The low itself will move right on top of us this evening meaning some locally heavy rains will be possible. As the low moves quickly to our east… MUCH colder air will move in from the north and should be able to catch the back edge of the departing rains switching it over to a period of wet snow or a mix over much of the region late tonight into very early Friday. You can see this happening here on the NAM model…

This Evening

Friday Morning

Any period of snow should be rather brief but it may come down just hard enough for a light slushy accumulation on elevated surfaces. Both the NAM and GFS snowfall maps suggest this to be possible…

The good news about this is that by late morning and early Friday afternoon… the sun is out and temps will be warming toward 50.

That bring us to the weekend and one that looks to be half and half in terms of the weather.  Saturday looks great with sunshine and temps in the low 60s. Sunday… not so good as another low works in here with rain developing west to east during the day. Much cooler air moves in later in the day and into Monday.

Once we get past that chilly shot early next week… the pattern is screaming WARM. As a matter of fact… I can see us having a shot at an 80 in the first week of April.

Have a great Thursday and GO BIG BLUE!!! Take care.
