Good Saturday everyone and thanks for dropping by the blog. As you know… I have been putting in a ton of hours on the blog over the past few months and I need to decompress some. I am going to use today as the day. I think you guys should too. haha
I will still throw an update if needed later today if needed. I will give you guys some headlines to chew on…
1. Today will feature some clouds moving in with the threat for a sprinkle in some areas. Radar will look threatening but it will be more bark than bite…
2. Highs today will reach the upper 30s and low 40s in the north with readings well into the 40s in the south and west.
3. Sunday will see more clouds and highs in the middle 40s. There will also be the chance for a late day shower.
4. The low moving in Monday will bring plenty of showers to the area. Highs will again warm into the 40s and winds will begin to gust up during the late day hours as colder air moves in.
5. That cold air will take hold Monday night and Tuesday with snow showers becoming likely.
6. Their will be another system rounding the bend of the eastern trough by Wednesday and Thursday that we will have to keep an eye on for a possible snow maker.
7. Regardless of that… the pattern will be much colder and will produce frequent snow showers and squalls if nothing else.
8. The first few weeks of March will be cold and will have the potential to produce some big winter events across the eastern half of the country.
Given all that… I need to rest up some. Have a great Saturday and I will be updating more through the weekend… just not as often as normal.
Take care.

50* today and 56* tomorrow?? Where did the warm air come from?? I don’t remember chat a few days ago of such a warm up. Did we miss that warm air on the models?? Wow. Anyone explain the crazy warm weather they are having up in Canada for the winter olympics?? Shouldn’t it be like very cold up there this time of the year?? Not good.
Models are not fixed and do change from day to day. All the models show cold air invasion for next week, but they could change if something else change. I.E. Models are far from perfect.
To answer your question on the Olympics, the answer is no. Lexington KY has colder winters than Vancouver, Vancouver has the same climate as Seattle, Washington. One most remember there are several factors that account climate, not just location.
Chris thanks for all you do. It has been a very hectic 2 months of winter weather. Enjoy your day.
Break time !! Break time !!!…EVERYONE go enjoy the sunshine…its been very nice for the past couple of days down here with sunshine and relatively warmer days….:)

Thanks, CB, for all the updates and time you spend keeping us informed. It is appreciated.
Watch out for Drosselmeyer in the Risen Star and moving forward. You can thank me later.
WOWWWW, if this isn’t eye candy, I’m not sure what is. Shift it a little west and we are all happy, 48 hour precip map for 10-11 days out… ALL SNOW http://www.nco.ncep.noaa.gov/pmb/nwprod/analysis/namer/gfs/12/images/gfs_p48_276l.gif
given the active pattern we have been in, what does everyone think will happen for SEVERE STORM season……..quiet or lots of bad storms?
dang, that would be a good one but, it wouldn’t make me happy lol. these last few days have give me spring fever.
I wouldn’t know what to expect around here, Chelle, but I spoke w/ my aunt in OK this AM, and she said their met’s were saying that this Spring will be almost record-breaking far as damaging tornadoes in Oklahoma, and the mid-section and southern parts of the US can expect extreme severe outbreaks, as well because of the wx patterns doing ‘something'(I forgot what she called it..lol!) I am really hoping they’re wrong!
Me too Debbie, My family is there in the Texas panhandle and they have had a CRAZY winter! but as crazy as it has been I can see us having a lot of bad storms. The past few years really havn’t been too bad really. Yes we had a few bad ones, but not alot of storms. Maybe it will calm down and just get your basic thunderstorms! lol 🙂
a snow movie i made. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fr1Ki6vmNm8
just come in for a few minutes to GLOAT!!!…LOL…on how nice it is outside here today….talk about FALSE SPRING!!!…sunshine, calm winds, and 56*!!!!..THat my friend makes me MORE HYPER THAN DICK VITAL ..BABY!!!!…LOL..:):)
now back outside to enjoy whats left of a georgous day!!!
its’ been very conistant on the gfs for several days now and the other models are showing a low in texas days 7-10. A big storm to start march is likely with a favorbale track thanks to the pattern further east slowing up a bit.
heading over 60 today in bwg some big time temp forecast busts including myself today!!!
That system will be traveling out of the southeast and up the Eastern seaboard. To bad it can’t move to the west side of the Apps. If the cold air later this week does not drop through TN we should see snow out of that system…
Dang, anyone got some Dramamine?
about 10 inches on the ground here still lol hit 44 at my house
I mentioned a couple days ago that we would get close to 50 all weekend. We actually hit 55 at my house today! The models had been showing Sunday and Monday even warmer…so let’s see how high we go! If somebody was forecasting snow and cold, I am not sure what models they were using. Probably the Euro. Haha 😉

Hey Rolo,
You care to edit your messages before you post ’em? (shove, poke, joke, etc.)
LOL.
But seriously, folks, I tend to agree with him on this point. The best will wait for last. Just like a good and proper winter should do.
This might turn out to be fun! One last grasp for winter, and then we turn to spring. 😉
Enjoy the weekend! It’s been VERY nice thus far.
=Aaron=
Chelle, in two words….”fairly quiet.”
At least for this part of the country. I’m siding with Joe Bastardi, who says this upcoming April will be quite pleasant across most of the nation.
We’ll see!
Debbie, if I had to highlight an area “at risk” for severe weather in early spring this year, it would have to be southern Kansas, southern Missouri, Arkansas, northern Louisiana, and northern and central Texas…possibly stretching back towards eastern New Mexico.
But that’s just my opinion…and I’m not a weather forecaster..just following trends and what I can recall from memory in weather.
I hope we have a great spring here, and hope it’s not too bad for anyone else.
I have to GIVE credit where credit is due.
In my part of Madison Co. we reached 55 today. Very nice weather. Almost spring fever-like.
Definitely a beautiful day.
Boyle County- Still some scattered areas of snow in areas out of direct sun rays. Felt kinda balmy today.
Thoughts for next one http://stormtracker.yolasite.com/
Pretty here today. We still have snow on the groud where the sun doesn’t shine also. Just north of Hazard.
I NEED A WINTER STORM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We got to 60 today. Went out and washed vehicles. Perfect day!!!!
Thank you for all your hard work and long hours. I check your site all the time. I live in Corbin it so nice to keep in touch with what going on all over. Thanks again.
You just had one LOL.Tommy are you on Facebook? Today has really spoiled me for spring.
