Good afternoon everyone. Your friendly weatherdude is dropping by for an update on the snow and blowing snow that continues across much of the state. This has been a wicked storm as we have had tons of reports of snow drifts of 3 or 4 feet tall and total snowfall closing in on a foot in some areas.

As you can imagine… we have received a ton of pics and I will try to post as many as I can. Here are a couple from northeastern Kentucky showing some awesome snow totals. The first is from near Carter Caves where the blogger said he measured some 14″ of the white stuff on his deck…

This pic from nearby Lewis County also shows a ton of snow…

Northwesterly winds will kick in later this evening and continue through Wednesday into Thursday. This means that the focus for accumulating snows will be shifting more toward eastern and southeastern Kentucky. An additional several inches of snow will be possible across these areas over the next 36 hours. As a matter of fact… the worst may be yet to come across the extreme southeast part of the state. Track the increase in snow showers and squalls here…

Winds will continue to gust up creating more blowing and drifting snows through Wednesday. While road conditions have improved today… ice and snow covered roads should return once the sun sets.

More updates as needed… take care.
