Good Wednesday everyone and thanks for all you do for the blog. Snow showers and squalls have been going strong all day across central and eastern Kentucky. These have put down a ton of snow in some areas. Parts of eastern and southeastern Kentucky are already nearing 5 or 6 inches of fresh snow. These areas will pick up several more inches through tonight and this may bring snow totals in a few spots to near 10 inches!

Farther west and north… snows will not be as heavy with additional totals of 1- 3 inches through tonight. Track the snows here…

Gusty winds are creating blowing and drifting snows and reducing visibilities to near 0 at times. This is a wild weather day for a lot of people across the state. Travel is flat out nasty across much of the region.

Snows will taper off to lighter snow showers and flurries overnight and a few of these will hang tough into Thursday in the east.

Looking down the road… a light snow and flurry maker moves in late Friday into Saturday. The blog has been talking up the late weekend and early next week snow threat for several days now and my confidence is growing. A prolonged winter storm is possible from Sunday through Tuesday as an arctic  wave/low pressure moves through. It is possible I ramp this up to THREAT mode later today or tonight.

I told ya this winter was gonna be fun!

Keep posting your weather and take care.
