Good Wednesday afternoon, folks. It’s another cold and ugly day across the bluegrass state. Temps today are stuck in the 30s with low clouds and drizzle. Thermometers across the southeast will even tumble into the 30s late today.
All of this continues to be part of a pretty darn cold week around here. It’s a week that was advertised by many weather circles to be a blowtorch with wall to wall warmth. Instead, daily highs are running well below normal for much of the state. The actual temps are blowing away what the computer models keep forecasting. Where have I heard that before? 😉
Current temperatures

Rain will increase rapidly from southwest to northeast tonight into Thursday. There’s a small chance of some frozen stuff in the north as the rain moves in. Highs tomorrow may stay in the 30s…again…
Heavy rain continues to look likely for Friday and Saturday. Many areas could pick up 1″-3″ of rain during this time…
We still need to watch early next week for the potential of a winter weather maker. I’m still not sure how the whole things plays out, but it certainly has my attention. I will touch more on that with the evening update.
Take care.
All things being equal, I think we’d have all rather had warm temps to go all along with the rain. I’d rather you be right on us getting snow when others say no chance of it happening.
However, I do enjoy seeing you win the day against certain other mets, particularly when you come out more ‘Reasonable’. 😉
Ugh, that Berea retweet. I promise you all that our city is not inhabited by that lot (Brits call them “chavs”) as we’re a nice little town.
Cold rain is at least better than ice 🙂
Cold rain sucks!! Ice really really sucks!
Let’s see if the axis of heavy rain does not push NW of its current forecast? If so the one next week could be an App runner.
Thanks for the update CB.
Blah, just an ugly and boring pattern the way I see it. Day after day of gray and wet, typical kentucky late fall and winter weather.
I think we are going to be mildly disappointed this year.
Those of us south of Richmond most likely won’t be too disappointed because this is the norm that we have come to expect… year after year
Pretty darn cold and gloomy for sure- a lot like winter, huh?
I’m looking forward to some good snow shots. I think the analog years tell the tale. Least I hope so.
And always, thanks to Chris.
