Good afternoon, all. Temps this afternoon are blasting me and the models as the numbers are coming much warmer than anticipated. This is leading to mainly some light rain with a touch of sleet mixing in because of the extremely dry air.

Some quick thoughts…

– Light rain tonight into early Monday with the potential for some light sleet and a touch of freezing rain in the far north. Temps will drop some as precipitation falls into this dry air.

– Colder air comes back in later Monday into Monday night with another round of a mix or some light snow across the central and east.

– The air coming in from Tuesday-Thursday continues to show up colder with the NAM keeping highs in the 20s during this time.

– Overall, this is a well below normal temperature week across the state.

– The weekend TRIES to break milder for time, but that is now in jeopardy as a cold may push in on Saturday.

– The models are going toward a return of very cold air for the following week as our active southern branch of the jet stream continues. If you want snow, you don’t want the cold to overwhelm the pattern like it did this past week. Normal cold that week would likely equal snow. Bitter cold that week would likely mean dry.

– There is a past winter this one is reminding me of and I will talk about that year and how it ended with my late night update.

Back to the present weather. Follow whatever is out there today…

Have a great rest of your day and take care.
