Good afternoon, gang. The band of light snow continues to work across the southern half of the bluegrass state. As expected, this has put down some light accumulations and caused some slick travel.
Our band of light snow continues to push to the east this afternoon and that may cause additional issues. Here are some tracking tools…

I have no changes on the forecast for the weekend into next week. The overall pattern continues to indicate the increasing possibility of a very cold period returning from late next week into the following week. The coldest air (relative to normal) is aimed right at the bluegrass state on the European Ensembles…
I will have another update later today. Take care.
Dry air doing a number on it before reaching seky.
Again, same pattern, Chris you said we don’t want it to get To cold if we want snow….i sure wish it would snow first, then go cold. Yes, minor light snow today esp. South, but I truly think it’s going to take a miracle to get any snow this winter.
Yep,
From a weighted word cloud standpoint, “cold” is a key word and “snow” is but a faint referral. Not winning.
Seinfeld winter.
Im starting to wonder if our biggest snow of the season already occurred in November.
Yes
in Richmond just got a trace of snow in November
Very nice snowfall here this morning south of Louisville. About a half inch but really pretty. Evn farther south of us they are getting even more.
34 degrees not a flake nor a drop as of yet. Atmosphere is not moistening up either dew point is not rising
And your surprised?
no but the festive flakes finally appeared that’s all it ended up being
Zero snow here in central Kentucky. Looks the part. Feels the part. However, it is dry as a bone out there. It is hard to get ready for the hot of summer without any substantial winter weather as a mental refueling reagent.
True dat! No mental palate cleanser.
Where’s the snow sorbet?! 🙂
CB’s Twitter feed says many people saw snow this afternoon in a lot of different areas. Not mine, and maybe not yours but seems like a lot of places in the area when you start looking at the map.
Had a scattered dusting in my yard in northern Richmond. 😉
Now that’s a snow done on the radar. Puts on the brakes around Somerset then full throttle at VA/Wva line. Snowing in a 360 degree radius around SEKY
It’s fun to watch the radar and see the snow disappear before going into seky
Nothing to see here. Move along….
Can someone please tell me which model is the CMC-GDPS?
Cannot even buy a rooftop duster here in London. Done with this wimp of a winter. Tired of the infamous 7 day away storms, the 7 days away winter pattern.
Long and medium range models are trash, no more reliable than fortune tellers, 1-900 psychics, oujii boards and magic conch shells.
see you next year.
I agree it is discouraging to say the least.
I still feel like something unexpected might happen. Holding hope…..
Bryant, you need more friends down there. I advise going to Kay’s and seeing your London snow.

We ended up getting a fine dusting on rooftops, shrubs etc

“We also have reports of snow covered roads in Madison County.”
I’ve been to the east and west in the bottom half of the county today and I didn’t see a single flake, let alone a snow covered road. Granted, this is possible but only due to the north/south divide where Richmond gets snow and we don’t.
What say you Yankees of northern Madison, do you have snow covered roads?
Had them up here at Clays Ferry….nice festive flakes for about a half an hour—betwixt nine and ten but roads cleared by 11. Wen into Lex on Old Richmond Road and no snow about Jean Ferris into Lex. So it was white–the whitest of the winter-so far. And we have a good chink of time to see and feel more, thou impatient and faint of heart…do not flake out, yet!.
Yankee, indeed!!
Snowing in Clay County. Starting to stick in the Burning Springs area.
According to the long range forecast, we could be down to the final three weeks of winter, with feb highs being in the 50’s to 60’s. But as we know long range models are not very god at all.
Good
its getting pretty bad on this blog in the winter time when a dusting becomes BIG news……i think a lot of winter forecast may be in trouble this winter with most forecasters forecasting above normal snow fall……but then again….it only takes 1 major snow fall to go above average…….just saying…….keep up the great work chris……you don’t sugar coat things……if i know you like i think i do you will be going into spring mode sometime in late feb. or early march so time is definitely running out on ole man winter around here.
Had almost a Inch here at Union co this morning.
TONY its not NEWS buddy, its WEATHER in general that aloot of us get pump about. let a WSW be issued for 6 plus inches and then u will see NEWS!! on the blog!!!
what i basically was referring to was people reporting in all different area to just say a few flurries are falling but in the case of this winter so far that is big news…..lol
Two days ago it looked promising on Sunday for some possible snow showers. Not happening you wanna hear why??? Wait for it… Wait for it….. Its going to be to warm. And yes you can fill in the blanks…. and by the time the atmosphere cools enough for a snow shower or two the precipitation will be pretty much gone. Wasn’t going to be a big event either way but come on we can’t even get some scattered measly snow shower activity!?!
This winter has *kind of* (but not exactly) reminded me of the 97/98 winter…That winter was SO BORING until early Feb, then we had that crazy huge snow storm…But it was actually warmer up until that point I believe. Then again, that was a rare Atlantic storm. I guess I’m trying to stay positive because we never know what will happen until winter is over.
I wouldn’t say this winter is on life support, but the forecast for the next week doesn’t seem to hold much promise. There’s not been a very active winter storm season at all. Very boring to this point.
It’s always possible that we get a big time event in late feb or march, but at that point, with longer days, more sunlight, I’m ready to mail it in.
Had a pretty good snow here in Harlan. Nearly an inch probably around 1 1/2 on ridge tops.
This was the 4th snow here this fall/winter, and the grand snow total of all of it is not even a quarter of a inch. I’m about ready to throw in the towel. Looking forward to Spring.
Few festive flakes in Carrie, still at a trace for the winter
