Good evening, gang. We’re ending the day on an absolutely gorgeous note across the commonwealth of Kentucky. Things continue to look even better into Saturday as temps surge into the 50s. The medium and extended range continues to look colder with the potential for arctic air to get back in.
I have to admit… the sunshine today was awesome! Even without much in the way of snow… This has been one gloomy winter with lots of clouds. I can get into this sunny thing! Don’t kick me out of the snow lovers club for saying that. 😉
Cold fronts show up about every couple of days starting with the one Sunday. The air behind those gets colder with each passing front and obviously that means snow chances slowly increase, too.
The pattern from later next week into the following week keeps looking very cold with a blocking ridge showing up across Alaska…
That carves out one deep trough on the European Ensembles. The Canadian Ensembles are seeing something similar…
The GFS Ensembles are also bringing the core of the cold into our region…

Let’s get this cold in here and out by the end of February. Get all our snow out of here and let March be sunny and warm. I will take the average highs in Mid-February and wouldn’t complain a bit. Get a dome buster in between that time.
It’ll be plenty warm and sunny this spring and summer. January and February are meant for snow. Well, that’s what I was always told at least. Perhaps someone forgot to tell Mother Nature!
