Good Saturday to one and all and thanks for dropping by the center for your weather fix. The past week has been dominated by a stubborn area of low pressure that was once Tropical Storm Lee. This system remains parked over the Ohio Valley, but is showing some signs of finally moving on.

One this low kicks on out… we get in on a few nice days before another big time shot of chill takes aim on us and much of the eastern half of the country for the middle and end of next week.

The upper low of today will finally begin to open up as we head into Sunday and the NAM at 500mb shows this very well…

Even though it begins to slowly bust a move on out of here… it will continue to produce a fair amount of clouds and the threat for some showers and thunderstorms. These will be scattered out there today with better coverage likely showing up Sunday afternoon and evening.

Highs today and Sunday will likely make the low and mid 70s for many areas. Keep in mind this is still below normal by several degrees for this time of year.

I still can’t rule out a leftover shower on Monday as we see a bit more in the way of sunshine. Temps should warm back into the 70s. Tuesday looks like the warmest day as readings flirt with 80. Winds should begin to pick up and some afternoon clouds will increase.

This increase in clouds is ahead of a cold front that will move in here for Wednesday. This front is being pushed by one heck of a cold push of air diving south out of Canada. I have two trains of though on how this all plays out for the end of the week. One such thought has the front just blasting through here Wednesday with a heck of a chill behind it just like the European Model is showing…

The other possibility is this front gets to about the Tennessee Valley on Wednesday and puts the brakes on allowing for a couple of waves of low pressure to move along it. That scenario would bring us a fair amount of rain for the second half of next week that would also go along with cool daytime temps.

We shall see which of those thoughts ends up being closest to reality. Needless to say… there is no doubting this is a fall pattern that has locked in.

Let’s get you caught up on the weather of today as many of you will be out and about with about 70 thousand of you doing some tailgating at Commonwealth Stadium. No matter what you’re doing,  we have you set up to track our Saturday weather…
