Good Friday and welcome to the weekend! We are ending one heck of a wild weather work week (say that three times) across the bluegrass state. This has been one for the record books with record rains for some and record low high temps for many.
It looks like the upper low is going to be a player into the coming weekend… even as it begins to open up. This means the threat for some scattered showers and thunderstorms will hang around for a few more days.
Let’s break it down…
– Today is likely to break our streak of 4 in a row with record low high temps across the state. There is still an outside shot at extending our streak, but some breaks in the clouds should gradually warm it up a bit.
– Highs will still struggle to get to 70 across parts of central and eastern Kentucky as the west heads into the high 70s.
– Scattered showers will be possible as the day goes on and a rumble of thunder can’t be ruled out. Some of these drops may impact some high school football games.
– Greater coverage of showers and some storms should be noted over the weekend. These should reach their peak into the afternoon hours for both Saturday and Sunday. Kentucky Wildcat fans going to the home opener at Commonwealth Stadium should take the poncho to be safe. The GFS is showing the weekend rainfall possibilities…
–Highs will generally run in the 70s this weekend.
– Monday looks like the best day of the next week or so with more in the way of sun with temps around 80.
– A cold front arrives on the scene late Tuesday into Wednesday with an increase in showers and thunderstorms. Much cooler air will then move in behind this front for the rest of the week. Look at the temp departure showing up on the GFS for next Thursday…
– That could prove to be one heck of a chilly shot of air for much of the eastern half of the country with lows that can really tank if we have clear skies!
– The tropics remain active, but the threat of any systems hitting the United States appears to be rather low right now. Here is a look at what all is going on…

OK… let’s track some of today’s weather…

Have a great Friday and take care.

good morning from the town of wayne, wva. well, here it is 7:30am and still no one has commented. sure can tell when the weather pattern we are in is boring when you go to a weather blog or weather chat and no one is on there. oh well on to the task at hand and that is the weather. currently the temp is 61 degrees and so what is new? right? we have been in the 60s for a better part of the week except for tuesday morning when it did manage to dip into the upper 50s for a few hours. no additional rain has fallen since wednesday afternoon at 4pm when .25 inches fell in 1 little shower. the weekly total still stands at 2.75 inches. oh, wait a minute, we are beginning to get some drizzle right now as i let the dog out so the dry spell was short lived. well that is all for now, thanks for your time and may god bless you and yours.
62 degrees with a light mist falling under cloudy skies in the town of wayne at 12:20pm. the 5th day in a row of temps stuck in the 60s all day. as for as pick days of the week, i think so far yesterday was the pick day of the week so far. we did see some sun and it did stay dry all day. we will wait to see what the rest of the day holds. thanks for your time and may god bless.
good evening from the town of wayne, wva. at 8:20pm the temp is holding at 65 degrees with a mainly cloudy sky. the sky opened up again today and as a result we recieved .05 inches of rain in about 30 minutes bringing the weekly total to 2.8 inches. a little bit later at around 2 or 3 pm we did manage to get a few rays of sun and some moderation in temps but not much. we missed 70 degrees by 1 degree at 69 degrees. the way the upper low is looking on radar and sattelite, saturday is not looking to good either. we are stuck in this temp rut in the 60s which would not be to bad if we could manage some sun shine. oh well, we will wait to see what saturday holds. thanks for your time and may god bless you and your family.
