Good Tuesday, folks. Our weather is looking much better out there today with a mix of sun and clouds and temps well into the 30s for many. This calm action is ahead of a potent little system diving in from the northwest. That arrives Wednesday night with a light snowfall likely behind it.
The latest NAM shows how the band of snow is behind the actual cold front…
Gusty winds and crashing temps will accompany our line of snow through the state. Some blowing snow will also be possible with winds gusting to 30mph.
Temps by Thursday morning crash into the teens…
After that, we will see temps bounce back some to start the upcoming weekend. Another system tries to dive in here from the northwest late this weekend into early next week. Systems diving in from the northwest show up frequently on many of the medium range computer models through the middle of the month. The GFS has a couple big boy troughs…
I will update things later today. Enjoy your Tuesday and take care.
I wonder if this one will have a snowfall map?
System has become weak sauce. No bite whatsoever.
Cool! We get more festive flakes. Like how the troughs looks to be a little further west and deeper. Can we get system to pull out of Texas? Still trying to be optimistic about getting a good snow before it is all over with. Just don’t see it though.
Thanks for the update Chris.
Festivaaaaa!!!!!!
Very strange feel outside atm. Looks like we just hit our nightly low, 24, and there’s zero frost anywhere, but it *feels* like it’s in the mid-40s out there. I checked two other thermometers and 24 is correct. Virtually no wind, and 75% relative humidity isn’t nearly enough to explain it feeling so warm vs. actual temp. Traditionally creepy things don’t bother me, but that sort of thing does. Weird.
Oh, that groundhog should get a weather model named after him (JTG ?), since he likes to bite people who poke him too much for answers. 😉
Got down to 19 here but that was after daylight. I think the clouds didn’t clear will almost daylight is why no frost.
Good point about the clouds and the frost. Still though, weirdly warm in the air.
We actually ended up with frost here sometime after 7 am and the temps dropped some after that as well
It was odd to see no frost this morning. I was also surprised how it didn’t really feel that cold. I went out to start the car and my first thought was why am I doing this.
Time is not on our side to bust the dome. This is the first time I can ever remember not at least having the potential for a good snow. The models have not even had to move on us in SEKY for us to miss out. I don’t even think that we’ve had a call for anything near 1 inch even 3 days out. The key word with everything this winter has been “light”.
The positive is no big ice so far. Based on the trend for big ice events, I thought we were due this year.
Not many small salt bait snows and no big ice is a meager victory, but still a victory 🙂
In case we ever do get a lot of snow, let’s hope it’s moist enough to “shovel” like this…

Last storm missed us to the north once again and now the one to the south stays south. Just saying…MEHHH…Very disappointing winter this far.
Let’s just not hype this one up and maybe we’ll get a nice overachiever. Slow and easy everyone.
Well as usual the 12z NAM comes less robust for snow tomorrow night. Not that it was going to be a big deal anyway. Just one model run but you just can’t help to laugh.
We are the fence for winter weather. Question is how long it lasts. We are over 1.5 decades now, but that really is a blip in time.
I still think Kentucky could be the tundra zone for the next mini-ice age and the fence is part of that long gradual transition.
Not sure how much of that is in jest…
its almost like many here think cb is actually jack frost!!!!
Can’t wait for this nightmarish thing called winter to be over with..Pea planting time is almost here..Yippeee
Rename yourself to SnowPea 😉
So your saying go ahead and pea on this winter!
Even without the other “e” it works 🙂
This season doesn’t deserve to be called Winter. Maybe mud or gray.
Only if your name is Andy Rose lol.
Ample amount of moisture working into the west coast. Both the northern and southern streams are loading up. Let them storms roll across the U.S. and hopefully the cold air will be lodged in and we can get a good couple of snows out of these systems.
I told you all I was trying to be optimistic.
You dream

What’s going on with the big temp difference forecast for Saturday? WKYT forecasting anywhere from 7-10 degrees colder than most others. Will be interesting to see who wins out.
Nothing to see with the snow tomorrow. An overachiever may spit out 1″.
Would love to see one nice big snow.
