Good early Thursday, everyone. We have a fast moving band of light snow crossing the state very early this morning. Most of this will be out of the state before the sun comes up, but it could leave enough snow to cause some slick spots.
Most areas will pick up a coating of snow, but a few areas may reach an inch. With temps dropping into the teens and gusty winds, it won’t take much snow to cause slippery travel. I will have an update on where we go from here later today. For now, let’s do some early day tracking…

Help us out by posting the weather where you live. Stay safe and take care.
Snowing in Perryville. It isn’t sticking to the roads. I have a feeling that the roads are going to be a sheet of ice in the morning.
Notice how the coverage and intensity decreases as it gets into central Ky., typical isn’t it? Another miss. Probably just enough though to make things slippery, so all be carefull
Lame.
Yet another winter that was all hype.
I know Chris is a busy guy but I used to get something in addition or insightful from the blog. I can pull the radar on my own.
One light post for an already foretasted very light event that was articulated as such with detail in the previous post? I am sensing less than sincere or Waltons-like intent with your post.
If he did post anymore info, you would probably then accuse CB of hype 😉 That ain’t winning.
forecasted foretasted….. The post did leave a bad taste in my mouth. Meh.

Chris does not hype anything. Are you really that dense?
He’d hype the Bengals if they gave him a chance to 😉
I haven’t seen one single flake. I officially hate this winter.
the way they were salting, you’d think we was getting a foot of snow and schools close for this …. wth
ok, Accuweather put their spring outlook out … here is the link:

Perhaps paid by the pound? 🙂 😉
We had enough to make the ground white, temp 20 deg and the roads are just patchy in places with snow! We have had maybe 3 dusting and one 2 inch snow this winter! Hoping for one GOOD Snow before it is done!
More salt than snow. Windy enough to dry up most of what fell and melted. Did like seeing the Festive Flakes.
Thanks for the update Chris.
Festiva grande’!

Zzzzzzz…..
Shoulda hit the snooze button this morning…..
no snow equals no school
They would be out all winter then!
Knox co. even missed out on the “dusting”. Don’t know why they called off school down here. Models are junk.
It’s not just a lack of snow many have been experiencing as of late, it’s a lack of precip in general. This was Nashville’s driest January in 29 years.

On a side note, we are upon the seventh anniversary of the Super Tuesday tornado outbreak of February 5-6 2008. Kentucky and especially Tennessee were hard hit by EF3 and EF4 twisters.

Here’s CB marking the anniversary a few years ago:

I’d give away some of the moisture in my swamp of a yard if I could.
Good catch, didn’t even look at the calendar yet. Yeah, I’m sure all of us at that time in 2008 would love to only have a lack of snow to fret over.
Hey mark…same over here in Athens…this time last year we were getting ready for 10″ of snow this year my yard hasn’t had the first coating at all!! And very little snow flying in the air…HUGE difference from last year’s winter here in the south…
It was also the fourth driest in on record for Louisville.
Very and I mean very light dusting in Carrie of knott co
Happy nationweatherpersonsday CB. Thank you for all the extra work you do.
Not the first flake fell during this winter weather advisory and I’m not even remotely disappointed. Thanks NWS! I knew as soon as WWA was posted, eiyjer nothing would fall or it would be rain. lol
I’m afraid this winter is just about over. Might still get a surprise, but overall it’s been a dud. The warmup has started and should be looking at just as many decent days as we are cold. Sitting on less than 1/2 inch for the season.
They are still actively salting the roads in Knox
The kinfolk have to eat too. 😉
They are expecting a slug infestation so are being proactive 🙂
You have to admit, it’s pretty funny we had Winter Weather Advisories posted for a dusting of snow, yet two weeks ago, anywhere from 2-6″ fell in many places with only a “special weather statement” in place, and upgraded to a “travels advisory”…and they wonder why people give them (NWS) such a hard time.
This is the “winter of our discontent”.
Today is national weatherperson’s day! I’d like to thank CB for being there for us and informing us about the weather. Also for NEVER missing an update. You give the most updates and are the most loyal to the public and we thank you!
NWS has a little info and background on National Weatherperson’s day here
It’s Monday….
Chris Happy Weather persons day today and Monday. Thanks so much for all you do.
Sunday/Monday system is all rain with 40 and 50 degree highs after today. Each day we draw closer to ending this misery.
I agree. Looking forward to warmer temps. I don’t care too much for the cold if there is no snow chances with it.
