Good afternoon everyone. Just like we have seen time and time again… every time the atmosphere has a chance to produce rain or storms it goes to the max. We are seeing that this afternoon as showers and storms are increasing across Kentucky. At least we had storms in the forecast unlike many others! ![]()
You can track today’s storms here…
The increase in clouds and storms is keeping temps down into the mid to upper 80s as we had forecast.
The threat for severe thunderstorms will increase for Saturday through Sunday and that is something you will want to pay attention to this weekend. We may also get in on a huge thunderstorm complex rolling across the state Monday.
I say this on occasion and I will say it again… be careful where you get your forecasts from! That is not to pump me up as there are other sites that can give you good forecasts. But, some of the discussions and forecasts I am seeing are just bad as they have 0 handle on this pattern.
Have a great Friday and I will update as needed. Take care.

Chris, what can I say- you are just the man! 🙂 Thanks for all you do- it is nice to have a source to turn to that I know has really analyzed the data and isn’t just regurgitating what someone has given them.
Chris,
Thank you for all you do for us. You are the best and I will continue to look to you for the most updated weather information. You are very much appreciated for what you do.
Thanks Chris
It looks like that storm near Louisville is trying to get its act together, making a beeline for the Frankort and Lexington areas. Any thoughts on timing of that into Lexington?
Thank you so much for staying on top of this, Chris. Now we know to be prepared. You are tops!
Have a great weekend. I’ll be reading here and keeping up.
Dark clouds, strong winds, thunder and lightning on the Anderson/Franklin county lines. Looks like the storm is rolling this way. The air feels so fresh!
We had a gully-washer of a rain here in Clark Co late this afternoon. I had to drive to Mt Sterling at 5, then to Lexington by 6. Rain fell in sheets from Winchester to Mt Sterling, then back all the way to the Clark Co/Fayette Co line. Then dry as a bone.
Creeks here in Clark Co were surging with muddy water, gravel driveways washed out into US 60. We have a beautiful complete rainbow over Winchester right now, and Elayne is right, the air smells so good, with scents of leaves and wet pine needles here.
