Good Friday everyone and welcome to FRIDAY! That is a word that just rolls right off the tongue so easily, doesn’t it? Now that we are to the weekend… we are getting a little taste of summer and gearing up for some storms over the next few days.

Temps today will be warming into the mid and upper 80s with 90 a possibility… especially the farther west you live. The atmosphere today can also produce a couple of showers or thunderstorms. Anything that goes up should be fairly slow moving and could put down some locally heavy downpours. Keep in mind… these will be rather isolated and you can track them here…

As we roll into our Saturday and Sunday… a cold front dips in with more widespread showers and thunderstorms. Saturday will see the chance for some scattered boomers early in the day. Temps will be up to the sun verses clouds thing… but mid to upper 80s look pretty good right now. As the front gets closer Saturday evening into Saturday night… the threat for strong or severe storms will be a possibility. Here is what the Storm Prediction Center is thinking…

SPC Day 2 0600Z Prob Outlook

More scattered showers and storms will be with us Sunday into Monday. Some heavy rainers will be possible during this time as well and that’s something we should watch for.

The heat will try to make another run at us by the middle of next week before another cold front cuts it off at the pass. In the short term… its all about the weekend storm threat and the blog will be following that with updates as needed so check back.

You may have seen all over the news that NOAA has announced that El Nino is coming as if that is some big revelation. After all… we have to go all the way back to 2006 to find the last time that happened. It is funny to see everybody broad brush every El Nino has causing massive storms on the west coast and having mild and snowless across the rest of the country during the winter. They are not all the same and it’s not even close. Just ask 1976 and 2002 to name a few. But for NOAA to look at those years would mean they actually have to use the blue paintbrush instead of the red one on the fall and winter outlook.

For those of you wondering what el nino is. Feast your eyes upon this…

I miss Chris Farley! It doesn’t get any better than Tommy Boy!!!!

Have a great Friday and take care.
