Good Monday, everyone. Flooding problems continue along some of our waterways with the major rivers being the main culprits. Snow melt and recent heavy rains have combined to create a soggy scenario to where we can’t handle a lot of additional rains. Unfortunately, rounds of heavy rain are on the weather menu this week.
The precipitation numbers from the past week have been impressive with some areas between 4 and 5 inches of rain…
Rain increases from southwest to northeast this evening and becomes heavy later tonight into Tuesday. Rainfall numbers of 1″-3″ will be possible from tonight through Wednesday morning. That would be enough to cause high water problems, again.
The next round of rain arrives Thursday night and Friday and has the potential to produce even higher amounts than what falls over the next few days. Rainfall totals over the next week could top 5″ in some areas. That would be more than enough to cause renewed flooding concerns on creeks and rivers across the entire state.
Looking farther down the road, the pattern should still turn much colder later this month and into early April. This look shows up by the 20th of March…
Our false start to spring over the next week and change is totally being wasted by all the heavy rain. As I’ve mentioned several times before… I don’t think we’ve had our last snowflakes.
I will have updates later today. Until then, track away…
Take care.
I do not like all the water we have coming at us. Not good. Water was up in places before the 4 inch snowfall . Before that, we had melting of 12 to 15 inches of snow that fell before this one. And there was rain after the valentine snow event.
Too much water. Hope we dont have drought after all thia water later on this year. 1999 was one worse drought years i can remember.
The KenTenn Weather Ready Nation Forum will take place in Bowling Green KY on Saturday March 21. Click here for more details.
It looks like I may have other obligations that weekend 🙁 , but perhaps Israel and others on this board could check this forum out 😉 .
Well, suppose I need to relearn basic html tags……

So from what I’m reading, you can be a WRN A*m*b*a*s*s*a*d*o*r? I also have my fair share of plans on my mother’s birthday though.
False start or not, I am enjoying the milder temps even with the rain on the way. Hoping that nobody has any serious flooding issues.
It is still winter. Wish all this moisture was SNOW.
Our waterways would turn to saltwater 😉
Thanks Chris. A heads up for everyone to go buy waders and possibly a small ark! Have a great (and safe) Monday.
Reminds me of March 1997 – not good.
That was the last time we had a flood as big as last weeks
What about the flood of 2010?
The 2010 flood was really bad in Lincoln County for sure.
Not as bad here
It rained about 10″ here in BG during the 2010 flood.
Yea!! Maybe more snow.
Memorial Day 2004 was the worst flooding I’ve ever seen in Powell County.
Anymore snow would be very short lived. Sun killed 3 inches here in one day easy. Giving it warm for the foreseeable future and that sun gonna get higher in the air. I look for frogs to be hollerin by mid week
We got a blizzard in the early 90’s the week before spring. I am hoping our snow credits have been used. Any more salt and we will be in a sea-water area.
Got one her around then as well. Best i remember it didn’t stay around long
About four days and then melting was quick.
Weatherbell is saying around the 20th or so we will get winter back in a big way.Maybe even snow on the ground for Easter.
Records broken,etc.
