Good afternoon everyone! I want to start off by saying thanks to each of you for all the help you give the blog by posting warnings and severe weather information. The blog has not skipped a beat since we switched over to Kentucky Weather Center late last Summer. The numbers continue to amaze me and we are in the process of expanding and adding cool new things to the center. You will be seeing all that in the coming months. ![]()
Ok… now that we are past all the sappy things.
Let’s talk about the weather.
Storm cluster number 1 rolled across the state earlier today with widespread wind damage and more flooding problems. Some areas reported winds of 70mph. The storms went much farther east than the Storm Prediction Center thought as their Watch was off by about a hundred miles or so. Not a good thing when you are dealing with 70mph winds!
Cluster number 2 is developing to our northwest near Chicago and may come rolling our way later this evening or overnight. Here is radar for your tracking needs…
Here is the latest severe weather map from the Storm Prediction Center…
If we get this next batch of storms… damaging winds will again be the main threat!!!
Friday into Friday night has the potential for a major severe weather outbreak across the Ohio Valley… including Kentucky. Check out the severe weather forecast map from the SPC…
The chance for severe weather is waaay up there…
That is very impressive folks!
I will update the blog as needed so be sure to check back. Take care.

Chirs, that last round of storms was probably the weakest one we have had during all of this severe weather, and there was a LOT of lightning, and heavy rains and wind. But, the wind, while gusty, did NOT get out of hand, and thankfully, it did not keep raining, and raining, as it did yesterday.
I hope the next round will just choose to bypass us altogether! We need a break! Thanks for keeping us updated.
Does anyone have any idea when this weather pattern may come to an end?!
Around winter that is the only time SE KY has the least precip
Tim you guys ok over there ?
Fingers crossed everyone will check in with thumbs up. This one missed Scott Co. too. Again we just had rain, lots of rain, a bit of wind but nothing to speak of.
Chris, here’s some sappy right back. What in the world would we do with what you do?
I have not had time to post much but have been reading this blog continually. Thanks for all that you do Chris to make our lives easier. Most of my brides this summer have opted to have wedding indoors because of so much rain. Even if it is dry on the hour of their wedding, the ground is so soggy that chairs will sink in the ground and walking to and from the wedding site is very difficult. This Satuday we are doing a double set-up. We are setting up in the reception hall for the wedding to take place on the dance floor but if it is possible we are moving it to outdoors. I will be watching that radar closely.
Well looking at the radar unless something pops we are in the clear at least till tomorrow
Those storms that went through Kentucky this morning with 70mph winds, do you think they’ll hit Morgan Co.?
Whew! What a day. Chris- I just wanted to thank you for all you do, with a special thanks for the twitter updates. I was out and about today when the storms hit, so no computer. But I was able to get real time info from Twitter and the comments on my cell phone. What a great asset during severe weather!!!!
no, they are gone already
Andy, I went back and looked at some of your recent comments about rain.
“Waiting on enough rain to make a stream mine is dry”
“send me some rain”
“Gray got hammered about 5:30 as did Lowes but we got very little yesterday and today as well”
“I don’t care what it does as long as we get beneficial rain and not this piddly stuff we have been having”
“Well this is a bummer barely got any rain at all”
“Looks like this first storm is gonna miss me to the north like last time”
“Wonder if i will miss out on the rain again hmm”
“please bring some decent rainfall tired of this piddly stuff reminds me of winter all over again”
“Finally i have always said the dome truly lies over my house and nobody believed me. Had enough rain to wet the ground that’s it”
And now the clincher….
“Around winter that is the only time SE KY has the least precip”
This has been in a 2 week period. Which is it bud? Too much? Not enough?
hey gang, been having problems getting on lately….THAT LOVELY MODERATION THING!!…LOL..LOL…
Yesterday was an impressive weather day to say the least down here, last night on our way home from church, water everywhere…Highway 92 was completely blocked due to a massive rock slide..then we proceded to take alternative routes, and highway 25,26, and 779 in southern williamsburg was eye boggling flooded… I seen places flooded last night that have never flooded, homes flooded, farm equipment floating down stream roads washed out, our normal 30 min. drive home from church last night took almost 2.5 hrs…it honestly looked like a war zone… in the last couple of days just right around 6+ inches of rain…thats insane!!!…
well hopefully this will load…fingers crossed…LOL..LOL
sorry gang im in moderation…for days now…lol
well looking at those statements the all refer to the lack of rain at my house but there are other areas besides my house that are in SE KY
you’ve been a bad boy LOL
LOL, Rain Hater, if you had went back a couple more weeks you would have seen where he was complaining about “mowing water”.
Andy, You appear to be a very discontented person, always complaining about something, never happy. You are constantly trying to prove other people are wrong, when it usually turns out you are the one who is wrong. You appear to be a very sad and angry person. I’ve noticed very few people reply to you, maybe if you weren’t so bitter acting and sarcastic toward people and quit complaining about every little thing you might get more replies to your statement.
Cheer up and lighten up a bit man, you’ll feel much better and be a much happier and more likable person.
I’ve only seen a couple of decent storms in Lex this spring/summer which is amazing considering the pattern we have been in.
