Good Monday evening everyone. I wanted to drop by for a little update on the a cluster of showers and storms moving through the state right now and for some Sunday storm reports.

This latest round of storms looks like it is in response to a meso low. You can see the spin around this small scale low on radar…

Heavy rains will be noted in many areas and this will likely lead to local flash flooding problems. Keep an eye on the creeks and streams… especially across southern and eastern Kentucky. This is the area that has been hardest hit in recent weeks and in recent days. Some residents of Perry County had severe flash flooding very early this morning from a 3″ rainfall in only one hour. Some 25 homes were flooded in this area.

There was a tornado that touched down in eastern Kentucky as well…

A NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE STORM SURVEY CONCLUDED THAT A TORNADO
TOUCHED DOWN IN MORGAN COUNTY…AT APPROXIMATELY 655 PM JUNE 14TH
ABOUT 1.5 MILES NORTHWEST OF RELIEF. THE PATH LENGTH WAS 1.5 MILES
LONG…WITH A WIDTH OF 75 YARDS. THE TWISTER LIFTED SHORTLY AFTER
CROSSING INTO JOHNSON COUNTY ALONG HIGHWAY 1614. THE
TORNADO…WITH WINDS OF 90-95 MPH…WAS RATED AN EF1 ON THE ENHANCED
FUJITA SCALE. DOZENS OF TREES WERE DAMAGED WITH NUMEROUS TREES
SNAPPED OR UPROOTED

A Tornado Warning was ever issued for that storm. I don’t think a Flash Flood Warning was ever issued for Perry County this morning either.

That is of MAJOR concern folks!

I will have updates as needed on the storms this evening. I will be using Twitter for those and you can find that in the top right corner of this blog. You can sign up to receive those updates on your cell phone too. It’s free!

Take care.
