Good Sunday afternoon everyone. Severe weather is getting cranking across the region this afternoon proving the atmosphere is still supercharged and going to the max when it can. A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH is now in effect until 9pm for much of central and eastern Kentucky.
Here is the outline of the watch…
Current Warnings…
Thunderstorms will continue to develop and move east southeast across the area. Damaging winds and large hail are the main threats from these storms. But, there is a shot at an isolated tornado or two because some of these cells are trying to get out on their own. These “supercells” like to create their own environment and can sometimes get some rotation with them.
Follow the path of the storms with our various radars…
Do NOT forget about the torrential rain threat from these storms! Flash flooding is a concern right now as our ground is waterlogged. Please keep an eye on the creeks and streams.
I will update the blog as needed and will take it live if it gets to that point. I will also be using Twitter and you can see these updates in the twitter feed in the top right hand corner of this blog. You can also sign up and follow me and get these updates sent to your cell phone free of charge.
Take care.

Chris, you are the man! Always there for us.
Thank Chris. I’ve just come in from the garden and mowing, it really feels “stormy” out there. Everyone stay safe.
will we be getting any rain here in pike?
Just got home from a B-Day BBQ, and the skies started to cloud over pretty well-didn’t hear/see ANYTHING @ all about the SvrWx. Watch until I checked here, even tho’ just noted how dark it was beginning to get here in Bardstown!? Those storms just come up out of nowhere lately, don’t they?!
Hmmm..just noted that a “Derecho” might be headed our way again this week, (around Tues?)~ Chris-what’s your ‘take’ on this??!;)

this should be a tornado warn for scott instead.
Current Thunderstorm sandwich in Georgetown proper right now. It is dark and thundery to our south, and dark and thundery to the north. The big thunderhead cloud is to the east. The sun is out as bright as can be right now behind CVS.
I don’t think so. The rotation clearly weakened before it got to the Owen/Scott county border.
We just received some heavy rain, a little thunder, and some wind over the past 30 minutes. It looked like the storm popped just overhead here in Gtown.
Safe under the dome in Knox County
the new weather underground map shows this supercell heading into pike co. with shades of pink and purple.
