Good Monday folks and welcome to another work week! While it is a new week… the weather is going to be looking a whole like like the past several weeks as showers and thunderstorms return. At least we had a great weather weekend! ![]()
The pattern this week goes right back to the same old, same old with a front stalling out from west to east across the region. Several waves of low pressure will be riding along this boundary leading to scattered showers and storms that will become more concentrated at times toward the middle and end of the week.
Here is the setup I am talking about…
This type of a pattern can lead to some very heavy rain totals this week and that is something we could do without. This has been a very wet past 6 weeks across the area so the high water threat MAY be with us again. There is also the threat for some strong storms this week as well.
Scattered showers and storms will get going out there today and you can track them here…
While an isolated severe storm could certainly develop… the greatest threat for severe storms will be to our west today…
I will update and tweet as needed so make sure you check back. Have a great Monday and take care.

Good morning, Chris.
Hey, Mr. Weatherman, could you order sunshine for the next few weeks? 🙂
Wow, what a wet few weeks we’ve had.
Thanks again for the great job you do for us, Chris. I check in here daily.
At least the wx is going to be more interesting this week..
Morning all. Thanks for the update, Chris. I really can’t say that we have had that much rain. in the past couple of weeks. MOst of it seems to have skirted us. We did pick up a half inch last week, but that was about it.
As far as stormy weather, I hope it gets it out of it’s system before the 20th. I would love for my daughter’s wedding day to be a nice one weatherwise.
Wxman, you are correct, it is going to be an interesting week, for sure. Everyone take care, and thanks again, Chris. We will be keeping an eye on the blog, and the radars, too.
Have a GREAT Monday, all!
We’ve had quite a bit of rain but the ground is bone dry again. I may need to water the plants and trees tonight if a storm doesn’t hit today.
NWS isn’t to impressed with chances of storms in my area
Well NOAA or someone I say dropped the ball last night, my family in Texas had only a 10% chance of thunderstorms and they either had a tornado or MAJOR straitline winds up to 100 MPH! LOTS of damage and no watch was ever put up. I know storms pop up and are NOT 100% predictable, but it got BAD! Luckily no one was injured so that is the main thing. Everyone take care! 🙂
Severe T’storm warning for Wolf and Morgan counties. Storm doesn’t look too terribly impressive, but could drop 1″ diameter hail.

Andy do you have a precipitation dome over your property or what :P.
Your welcome and thanks to Chris for giving us a such an awesome community to share weather info.
WRF short-range model was all over this like feathers on a duck. My question is, why aren’t the mesonet stations recording any rainfall?? I know that station in Knox county has to be getting dumped on..
Finally i have always said the dome truly lies over my house and nobody believed me. Had enough rain to wet the ground that’s it
Not necessarily just enough at my house to wet the ground hardly enough to settle the dust
WHY HAVE WE BEEN GETTING ALL THESE WARNINGS AND NEVER NO WATCHES? I THOUGHT A WATCH WAS TO HELP PREPARE PEOPLE BEFORE THE WARNING.
NEED SOME WEATHER INFO ON TOMORROW, TRAVELING FOR AN APPOINTMENT. THANK YOU.
Watches are typically issued when widespread severe weather events are expected. We haven’t had a ton of warnings and most of these storms haven’t had reports with damage that I’ve seen so far.
I agree though that it is frustrating getting warnings with no watches out. Not to mention SPC didn’t even have us in a slight risk, they had us in the infamous see text. The see text said isolated hail and wind damage was possible.
Tomorrow looks a lot like today with chances of scattered storms.
THANKS SHANE. LOVE READING THE BLOG, AND THINK ITS GREAT WE HAVE WONDERFUL PEOPLE LIKE YOU WHO KEEPS US UPDATED AND ON OUR TOES WHEN CHRIS CAN’T. THANK YOU.
Are the storms to the west going to hold together to get here in Nicholasville?
