Good Saturday morning everyone. A major flood event continues to unfold across parts of southern and southeastern Kentucky. The flood reports coming out of some counties is staggering. Homes being washed away… major roads with feet of water covering them. All in all, this is the worst bout of flooding to strike many areas since the devastating floods of Memorial Day weekend of 2004.

Here is a look at the latest warnings…

Rain and storms moved over the same areas Friday afternoon into very early this morning. This is known as training and that shows up quite nicely on our radar total precipitation map…

Those amounts were falling on top of a saturated ground still waterlogged from flooding earlier in the week. We may not be done with the rains just yet as our front is VERY slowly working to the south into Tennessee. Waves of showers and a few thunderstorms will continue to roll eastward along the front. You can track the rains here on radar…

This continues to be a situation that can get worse before it gets better… it all depends on how those showers and storms to our west and southwest track through the day.

To put it all in perspective… take a look at some of the flood reports…
