Good Monday, everyone. Today is going to be a very active weather day across the bluegrass state. Rounds of showers and thunderstorms will be around to start things out, but the main show comes this afternoon and evening. That’s when a line of severe thunderstorms develops and races across the region.
The prime time for the worst of the weather appears to be between 3pm and 11pm. Here are the threats in order of potential…
1. Damaging winds
2. Heavy rains that cause local flash flooding
3. Large hail
4. Small tornado risk
These storms will also contain a lot of lightning (LOL) as they roll through here.
I have you all set for a one-stop shop for severe weather tracking…

I will have updates as I can get to them. For the very latest information, follow along with my @kentuckyweather twitter feed and tune in to WKYT-TV.
Take care.
Wait, the worst of it isn’t coming until 3pm to 11pm today? Ugh. Not good at all. Looking at this system right now and that line just got wicked looking north of St. Louis.
Here’s hoping this storm chokes on the end of its journey here into central KY. I mean really chokes and not the ‘everyone-says-it-chokes-and-then-it-finishes-dramatically-to-spite-people-(especially on Twitter)’ way. Ahem. 😉
Doesn’t look like the morning activity is weakening to me in fact it looks like some more storms are redeveloping to me!!
Chris if we get some storms this morning, does it help reduce the possibility of severe weather later today, or does that depend on the sunshine factor?
That is what I am wondering. The line of storms this morning is holding, but the blob of moisture behind it is dying.
Praying for no Tornado weather !
Yep – clouds this morning …
still nothing for southern ohio, but man did the radar just blow up at the 3pm update!
Pretty good thunderstorm going through Nashville TN, I’d estimate about 50 mph wind gusts. We do need the rain, but hopefully there will be nothing more than small limbs down and minor flooding.
So glad those storms this morning held on, or else we could’ve gotten some sunshine and the storms would’ve been much stronger. According to Marc Weinberg, the storms held strength 150 more miles south than data indicated. That held the cloudiness across much of the area. We just need some more rain, without the severe storms obviously.
The first batch was dying as it went through around 11:00 AM and gave us about a 10 minute shower. The second batch grazed us to the south and we had another light shower around 4:00. Guess it’s off to take the allergy meds as there was barely enough rain to pat down the dust.
