Good Saturday folks! The warmth around here is impressing the heck out of me and I am someone who almost a month ago said a hot end to April was on the way!
Temps Friday surged into the mid and upper 80s in many areas… even with a few clouds. We recorded our first 90 degree day of the year across some areas. We even had a record high temp…
…RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURE SET AT JACKSON…
AT 438 PM EDT…THE TEMPERATURE AT THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE
OFFICE IN JACKSON REACHED 90 DEGREES. THIS BREAKS THE PREVIOUS
RECORD OF 86 WHICH WAS SET IN 1990.
TODAYS HIGH TEMPERATURE ALSO MARKS THE EARLIEST DATE THE JACKSON
WEATHER OFFICE HAS EVER REACHED 90 DEGREES.
WEATHER RECORDS FOR JACKSON DATE BACK TO 1981.
It doesn’t matter that the records only go back to 1981… 90 degrees this early in the year is almost unheard of my friends. You know what… i can see temps hitting 90 in some areas again today through Monday. Wow!!!
You can track the temps and the highs for the day here…
Current Temps
High Temps
The low temps won’t be outdone as they likely stay in the 60s through Monday with some areas having a difficult time dropping below 70 degrees. It will continue to be a windy hot spell too as southwesterly winds gust up from time to time.
As I look down the road into next week… I have been outlining this as possibly turning into a stormy period. Everything I am seeing right now continues to suggest that we may see a pattern where rounds of severe weather would be possible from the plains eastward into the Ohio Valley. Something to watch for in the coming days.
As we continue to play some “hot” tunes in honor of this hot spell. Let’s bust out the time machine again for this 80s classic…

Boy, Chris….you’re spot on the money with it my friend. The heat is on!!
Glenn Frey was awesome. “You Belong to the City” was another fantastic hit of his as well. Beautiful moody music there.
In the weather world, can you ask for any better? Within a weeks’ time, it turns from being cold and cranky to (at times) HOT and breezy! Wow, what an early taste of summer we sure ARE getting! This is fantastic!
Unfortunately, friends, this “heat wave” will come to an end next week—but never fear! We will still maintain our average temp, as I don’t think we’re going to see many days that far below normal. You know, the typical May weather—highs in the upper 60’s to low 70’s. Let’s hope this pattern of 68-76 locks in for about 3 weeks. That should get us primed up for the summer. 🙂
Awesome weather out there this weekend, though—enjoy the early taste of summer! You don’t get that this often in April! Bee-yoo-tee-full!!

Of course, on the flipside of all that beautiful “odd” tranquil weather for three weeks in a row means someone in this area will also see an unusual bout of extreme weather to balance it out. Probability banks it on flooding. Go ahead and shout your “I don’t believe it even 1 percent.” Someone in Kentucky or a state bordering it WILL, absolutely, deal with flooding in May, if we are to get the temperate and steady climate next month.
Now that that’s out of the way, enjoy the weather!
Too much to gulp on, or too much experience looking at the climate..the decision is up to you. Take it for what it’s worth.

Beautiful day for a wedding. Just perfect.
Muddycreek in Corban from the last thread – I’m in Richmond. http://www.added-touch.net and http://www.june-morning.com.
The weather is beautiful! Everybody come on out to the Mountain Mushroom Festival here in Irvine all day today and until 5:00 tomorrow. We don’t usually get beautiful weather. It is either cold, raining, or both. So come on down for a great event. Ya’ll come!
i wish this weekend’s weather could be the weather for derby weekend, 12z gfs has severe weather derby day something to watch very closely.
I will be attending Western Kentucky Univeristy in the fall for a M.S in goesciences. I’m very exicted to become part of the department there. If any of you have useful infromation about housing etc. I would appriciate it.
lots of meteorology in that degree plan! for those of you who graduated there a few years ago the program has really expanded and flurished since you graduated.

Mitch, WKU is a great place to learn about weahter and has become even stronger since I graduated last year. I would suggest looking for an apartment away from campus because they can be a little pricey right next to campus. Bowling Green is a very easy to navigate town, and even with traffic, most places are less than a 15 minute drive to campus.
Congratulations, Mitch! I got about a year into the masters program in physiology at the UK College of Medicine before I left to go to law school. I’ve always regretted the decision. Pursue your passion, not the money. If the two happen to meet up, great, but do what you want to do.
Went to the Blue/White game today. Will Fiddler flat outplayed Hartline.
I got up this AM preparing for the 2nd. w/e in a row for another “Yard Sale”, expecting to have to wear my “hoodie” for @ least the first hr. or 2??!- WOW!- 71° @ 6:45am here in Bardstown is almost UNHEARD OF, @ least until around the mid/end of August!!?? NOW..??!- If only we could do something about that dang WIND, Chris??! What’s with that? Every day that is forecasted to be NICE, WARM…the WIND is HORRENDOUS and makes it rather unpleasant for those of us that suffer from allergens, have a “hair” and/or just plain WIND adversion?! (I fall into the 1st. category, BTW..lol) (Alrighty-all 3, but that mold & pollen crap blowin’ ’round..?!-I mean, I don’t like greeting potential buyers with a snotty nose and a box of Puffs, w/ “helicopters” from the Maple tree all over my head…lol!
I am all for a ‘nice breeze’ when it’s warm/HOT, but, is this going to be some sort of “trend” we “wind-hater’s” have to look forward to the next coming months, or what??!:(
*Hope all my fellow Bloggers are doing well?! Been busy lately…Tim, let me know how you’re doing w/ your back surgery, etc?! I have some SOUND ADVICE for you LATER (as of TODAY-should you ever need it..that is!?)-We’ll talk!:) )
All in all..BEST “Yard Sale” EVER, IMO!?:), despite all the WIND! $105 after about 4 hrs….just out-right, pure, SH***Y JUNK!!??- I even had a “showed-me-the-CA$H” $350 offer for my Terrier, “Butters”…
**It’ll NEVER HAPPEN! 🙂
(As Hank Hill would put it, “He’s my BOY!”)
Hey Chris Mitch or anyone. Do you think it is safe to put in the Garden or willwe have a chance again for frost or a freeze?
i don’t see any frosts/freezes coming the odds now are remote.
Hi, Joe..
Personally, I would wait until AFTER “Derby Day”??!- My Grandpa always SWORE by that date, and we always had the BEST GARDEN EVER!??!:) I’ve tried to put mine out (I live in town..such as it is..lol)before that date, and if anything actually GREW, it would be just the STEMS…no fruit, no veggies, etc…I’ve not had time to put out a garden the past couple of yrs due to family things, etc, but the last one, (’06) was just AWFUL because I set it out the last Sat. in April…?! I had Green Pepper plants 5 ft. tall and peppers didn’t start until late July, the size of a walnut…cucumbers the size of a gherkin pickle…we won’t talk about the HUGE tomatoes that grew like wildfire, but were soppy in the middle (Possums loved ’em!)- Last gardenI did mid-May (last year..) and I had..well..name it..Gr/Red peppers, maters, onions, carrots(never had success w/ them before?!),lettuce, cukes, cantaloupe (3 nice ones!) and some little weird HOTTTT peppers-so hot they actually made the blood vessels in my eyes POP!?(No kidding..lol-I looked like a drunk on a 3 wk. binge..lol)
Hope this HELPS??! (Papaw always said that you had to wait until the 2nd week of May…watch the Wx forecast, perhaps wait another WEEK-just in case of frost or a cold spell…??!)
