Good Friday, everyone. Our blast of October air is rumbling into the bluegrass state today with an increase in showers and storms. This action is along and ahead of a strong cold front that swings across the region tonight. Behind that, I can already smell the chili cooking! 😉
Winds will be gusty today as the showers and storms develop from west to east during the afternoon. Area high school football games could be impacted by the storms, so we will have to keep an eye on that.
Once the front slams through overnight, temps take a dive as this massive dip in the jet stream arrives…
That will cause an area of low pressure to develop and work just to our east. The end result means scattered showers and will continue into Saturday for many areas. Rumbles of thunder and soft hail could also be noted. Highs will be in the 60s with a chilly wind blowing.
Sunday could still see an isolated shower going up, but looks fairly dry. Lows will be in the 40s with highs back into the 60s. The weekend temps are WAY below normal…
We’re deep into the 40s by Monday morning and there is an outside chance of an upper 30 in the coldest valleys.
Temps moderate into the first half of the week as our skies stay mainly dry. All of that looks to change by the end of the week as another cold front approaches from the northwest. This bad boy may hang out around here into next weekend with soggy weather leading to another decent cooldown…
Winter weather lovers will like seeing this. Check out the 2 week snowfall forecast across North America…
That time of year is getting closer and closer!
I leave you with your Friday storm tracking toys…
Have a great day and take care.

I get paid on Fridays: Today, I will be getting the ingredients for a big pot of chili:)
Some storms may reach severe criteria today in Kentucky.
really? cuz the radar looks pretty calm right now…..
Chris thanks for the update. Also need someone to spit out an answer… Are we looking T rain in central portions of the state tomorrow afternoon? Say around Georgetown? There’s s football game there I’m interested in going to but don’t want to be in the rain. Have a great Friday everyone, and let us Never Forget. Thank you first responders.
