Good Thursday afternoon gang. Just wanted to drop by for a little update before I go to work. Clouds and some very light snow and flurries are hanging on across parts of the state and that will continue through the rest of the day. These flakes aren’t really showing up on radar, but just in case they do… here is it…

Light snow will develop across much of the state tonight into Friday and will put down a light accumulation of an inch or two in some areas.

Much of the state is caked in snow and ice and we are not going to see any thawing over the next few days. Temps today are going to stay in the 20s for most areas. Here is a look at your current temps…

Late last night, we upgraded to Winter Storm THREAT for Monday through Wednesday of  next week. A powerful storm is expected to develop across the Gulf of Mexico then head northeast from there up the eastern slopes of the Appalachian Mountains. Here is a map of where this stands now in my mind…

The models all showing something very similar to the map I made for you and some of them have been going for a memorable storm for a whole lot of people. Blizzard conditions may develop with this storm at some point on it’s path from the Gulf into Canada.

JUST FOR FUN… here is the 12z GFS Snowfall for Monday and Monday night…

That’s showing 6″-10″ for much of central and eastern Ky. More snow then falls Tuesday into Wednesday with wraparound and squalls. Throw in some wind and look out!

Again… this is still ONLY in the THREAT category as we are now less than 4 days away from feeling the first impact of this POSSIBLE storm.

I will continue to update the light snow threat for Friday and the POSSIBLE big storm for next week with posts coming later today. Take care.
