Good Wednesday evening gang. What an awesome looking and feeling day across the state as temps made it to near 60 in many areas under partly sunny skies. Not too bad! I have to admit that I am sooooo ready for spring.

True spring is still a ways away as we have a lot of winter still to go before we can get there. Old man winter will be showing up in a big way this weekend and early next week for a lot of folks across the region and for much of the country as arctic air moves in spawning a big winter storm.

The questions remain as to where this low will develop and track.

The poor GFS continues to be out of the loop so there is no reason to show it. The European and Canadian models continue to lead the way with this storm as they have been all over it for several days now. Let’s take a look at what they are showing.

We will start with the European model which has come back to what its Canadian friend has been saying… a farther west track.

That model brings a strong upper level closed low over us later Saturday into Sunday and would be a good snow producer. You also notice the arctic air pouring in as well.

How about the Canadian? Here goes…

So… those two models are very similar for the weekend. Now it’s a matter of seeing how this whole thing plays out and the blog will keep you updated on how the models are looking. Thursday should be the big day in terms of them latching on to what this storm wants to do.

I will have a full update tonight so check back. Take care.
