Good Thursday, everyone. We continue to track a healthy blast of weekend cold air that will likely end the growing season across much of the region.
This blast of air comes in behind a cold front that surges through here on Friday.
Winds will be very gusty ahead of this front today with a mix of sun and clouds. There is just a slight chance for a broken band of showers along this front on Friday.
The real story is the cold temps. Frost and freezing conditions are likely over the weekend. Check out the model forecst lows…
Next week starts with more frost Monday morning, but pleasant fall weather follows into the middle of the week. I’m still watching for a potentĀ cold front to drop in here later in the week. That may try to hook up with something from the Gulf of Mexico…
My gut tells me that will be a much deeper trough than what the models are currently advertising.
Make it a great day and take care.
Ryan Maue’s graphic depicting the last 48 runs of the CFSV2 model..Interesting that this model has been the warmest seasonal model..

Very interesting!
I honestly think its gonna be a snowy winter
Thanks Chris. A little cool this morning, but a beautiful morning here. Thanks for posting even during this tough time. Have a good day everyone.
So far, Euro and NAM are pretty close in temperature guidance for Sunday morning. All areas from Louisville to Lexington near or below freezing except Louisville International and Lexington Mesonet of course.
What does everyone think of NOAA’s winter forecast?
I don’t! I only think of Chris Baily’s. Ha ha.
