Good middle of the work week Wednesday to one and all. Thanks a bunch for stopping by to blog with us. The title says it all as the coldest temps of the season have moved into the region. This is turning out to be one heck of a cold pattern across the eastern half of the country and is a sign of things to come!

Most areas will  start out this Wednesday with temps down into the middle teens. A few of the traditional cold spots can hit the low teens. Brrrr! Leave us a comment with the low temp where you live. Partly sunny skies will be with us during the day as winds become gusty from the southwest ahead of our next surge of cold air and snow showers coming in for Thursday and Friday. Highs Today can hit 40 in central Ky with upper 30s in the east as a few high clouds move in.

That fast moving system will move in Thursday with the chance for mainly snow showers and flurries. Just like the last one… there isn’t a whole lot of moisture with this system. There should be just enough for that something similar to what we had around here Monday morning. Here is the GFS precip type maps…

THURSDAY MORNING

THURSDAY AFTERNOON

Again… that is a little overdone as we will only be seeing scattered snow showers and flurries. A touch of light sleet may mix in early in the day.

Winds will be very gusty and will be out of the northwest meaning Lake Michigan moisture will get involved with an increasing threat for snow showers Thursday night into Friday. Just like the last time… anybody can see a coating of snow with eastern Ky  having the best chance for a light accumulation.

FRIDAY MORNING

The air mass moving in late Thursday and Friday is even colder than the one that is pushing out of the state today. Check out the European Model forecast for Friday morning…

Lows Friday morning will drop to around 20 with afternoon highs having a hard time getting out of the low 30s once again. High school football playoff games will be played with temps in the 20s.

Saturday morning will once again see teens for lows with highs staying in the 30s. Sunday will see a bit of a mild up withe temps heading into the low 40s for a change! Don’t get used to it though as Monday and Tuesday of next week will see a storm system quickly rolling into the great lakes. Check out the European model…

MONDAY MORNING

TUESDAY MORNING

Those maps are showing the lakes low giving way to another low along the east coast. Here is a closer view of the Tuesday morning map…

If those maps are right (I suspect they are close)… this would be a rain or rain/snow mix to snow situation for Monday into Tuesday of next week. Something to really keep an eye on as that will be taking us into the busy Thanksgiving travel period.

I continue to see a pattern loaded with potential over the next few weeks!

Have a great Wednesday and I will update as usual later this evening. Take care.
