Good Tuesday everyone. Our Monday was a wintry one across the state with temps that generally stayed in the 30s with very gusty winds adding an extra chill to the air. Oh by the way… we did have some wintry stuff falling from the sky in many areas.

We started things out with a mix of rain, sleet and snow early Monday. Colder air changed all that over to snow showers that came down pretty good for a time in many areas. This is what it looked like at the Bailey house in Ashland when I got home just after 11 last night…

Not too bad if I must say so myself. Everything is pretty much covered with maybe a half inch as of this writing. We should pick up a little more later tonight into early Tuesday.

It is the eastern part of the state that will see an inch or less total from all this with the rest of the state picking up that coating that many of you saw Monday evening. That coating did manage to cause some accidents in central Kentucky! I would be willing to bet we get some delays of even a school closing or two first thing Tuesday morning. Temps will be well down into the 20s meaning icy spots are a good bet.

With the flow coming in from the northwest… a few snow showers and flurries should be on and off into the first half of today… especially in the east. Here is the GFS…

Tuesday Morning

Tuesday Afternoon

You can still see some flakes coming off Lake Michigan. Parts of my TV forecast area in West Virginia will be doing very good with snow totals. Local amounts may hit 3 or 4 inches with the highest mountains getting close to a foot of snow out of this.

Highs on this Tuesday will run in the low 30s in the east with mid 30s in central Kentucky. Winds will be gusty leading to wind chills in the 20s. Dress for January out there today!

Wednesday morning will start cold with temps near 20 in some spots. By later in the afternoon… we will start looking to the northwest at another clipper that will move in for Thursday and Friday. This looks like the twin of the system that just rolled through here!

European Model Thursday

European Model Friday

That air mas is actually colder than the one we have right now. We should see a mix of rain, sleet and snow showers with us to start the day Thursday before colder air moves in and changes that over to snow showers. Stop me if you have heard that one before!

Thursday Morning Precip Type

Thursday Afternoon

Snow showers would then be with us Thursday night and Friday with the potential for more accumulations… especially in the east. Highs Friday may stay below freezing!

The weekend looks cold still. I would not put a whole lot of stock in the models right now as this pattern is throwing them for a loop beyond this Friday. There is the potential for some big storms across the country from this weekend through the rest of November into early December. I am seeing some things that I am REALLY liking right now over the next few weeks. Fun and games ahead folks!

I am feeling under the weather and am losing my voice so no video blog for a few days. I will get another one out for you later in the week.

My Nyquil is now kicking in so it’s bedtime for your now loopy weather dude! Take care.
