Good Monday everyone. We are in the middle of a very mild stretch of weather for this time of year. Today should make it 6 days in a row of below normal temps for much of our region. We start things off with pleasant temps before we warm it back to normal by the middle and end of the week.
The powerhouse low pressure across the east coast continues to bring record rains to many of the big cities. This low is one you do not see very often in Summer and has the look of a cold season setup. We are on the backside of this system and that means northwesterly winds leading to more nice temps. A mix of sun and clouds will be noted with with a few showers likely across the eastern half of the state.
Here is how the day looks across Kentucky…
We have your hookup to follow the temps and any shower action…
Current Temps

Tuesday looks to be a winner of a day as readings top out from 80-85 in many areas as we see more in the way of sunshine.
Our warmest day may come on Wednesday as readings head back into the mid to upper 80s. We will increase the humidity levels and this will lead to more of a typical August feel. Some clouds will roll in by the end of the day ahead of a cold front that approaches the region by Thursday.
This front should touch of scattered showers and thunderstorms for many. One or two of these may hang around into the start of high school football action Friday. Highs both days should run in the low and mid 80s.
The weekend will see the hot air try to expand toward the midwest. This will keep the hot air to our west, but may put us in line for some northwest to southeast moving showers and thunderstorms. That will especially be the case if we get in on a few disturbances diving in here.
I can’t help but think we see a spike toward 90 again for a day or two early next week. That shouldn’t last long as another trough looks to try to dig in across the eastern half of the country. The GFS Ensembles Temp Departure Maps suggest the heat stays out west…
I still think we have one more hot stretch of weather before we get into fall. When that happens is a mystery… but don’t be surprised when it does. It is not happening this week! ![]()
Have a great Monday and take care.

With all the rain we’ve had, will the fall colors be good this year? And do you think it’ll be an early fall?
According to the Sentinel-News over 6,000 people in Shelby County lost power from Saturday’s storm. There was lots of tree damage county wide and winds completely destroyed 3 bay doors at the Simpsonville Fire Department.
