Good Wednesday everyone and welcome to the day after the election. You can now turn on your TV’s again without seeing the political folks body slamming each other. Now we can get on with the weather and trying to body slam the warm temps and the ever lasting snow dome!

The warmth is going to continue for a few more days before we start some big changes as we head into the weekend. This will set us up for a very active period next week and it is one that should take us into the second half of the month with some interesting possibilities looming.

Highs Today and Thursday will be back into the 70s across the entire area. Mainly sunny skies will be with us once again and winds will pick up as we head into Thursday. This is a bad setup for the forest fires so let’s hope we don’t see many breaking out.

A cold front moves in Thursday night into Friday. This front will have a band of showers that may even contain a clap of thunder. I am still not expecting very much rainfall with a quarter to half inch looking to be the max. Highs will be in the 50s in most areas with a 60 possible in the east.

That front will usher in some chilly air for the weekend. Highs in the 40s will be likely for Saturday and Sunday with a small chance for a stray shower. The European model is showing some decent cold air advection…

Another storm system will begin to develop across the plains and head toward the region early next week. The European model has a winter look to it…

Here is my take on the storm track over the next week…

The first low pressure will be well to our north and likely bring more than a foot of snow from Nebraska through the Dakotas into Minnesota. The storm track will then shift southward from Monday through Wednesday of next week as that low looks to move right over us. That may bring a healthy snow threat from Kansas into the Great Lakes area. This track would mean a chilly, SOAKING rain around here would be a good possibility. Colder air will move in behind the departing low by late Wednedsay into Thursday and could bring some wraparound snows not to far from us.

If we see this same setup in December into the winter… snow lovers would be smiling! This setup is yet another good signal to me that the winter ahead means business.

This stormy pattern won’t end with the second system as we are likely to see another storm right behind it by the end of next week that may take a farther southward track. You have got to love this trend!!!

Have a great Wednesday and take care.
