Good evening, gang. There isn’t much more I can add to this week of weather across the bluegrass state. This may go down as the warmest Christmas week of weather on record for this part of the world. It may also be one of the wettest with the potential for rounds of heavy rain to impact the region.
Rain comes at us in waves between now and Christmas Eve. The NAM continues to indicate some hefty totals during this time…
Thunderstorms will also be possible during this time.
Temps during this time will surge and could break records from Tuesday through Thursday. Those temps may border on the absurd over the weekend if our heavy rain band moves just to the north. Record highs in the 70s would then be likely with this setup…
There’s an outside chance for all time December high temps being set in a few cities. Much of that depends on how the heavy rain bands set up this weekend into next Monday. Those heavy bands may bring enough rain to cause local high water issues.
Moral of the story for the weekend.. if the corridor of heaviest rains set up on us… it floods. If it sets up JUST to our north… Records fall in a big way. Pick your poison on that one.
I leave you with rain trackers…
I’ll update things and look for winter later tonight. Enjoy the evening and take care.
This is insane.
But keep in mind, she always balances out at some point..
Actually I think this is the balance to last winter’s 20 below..
Good point.
Hey Chris ,you mention that there’s possible snow next week are the models still showing it?
70 s?? Yes more of that poison please 😀
It looks the train of rain is a little.bit more southeast than the models had…anyone else notice that?
As much as I don’t like to say it…..I do believe Louisville is going to get socked….and soaked……….again.
The warm side of weather is the pathway to many winters some would consider to be…. unnatural.
This is so depressing! The winter that wasn’t.
The winter that wasn’t? You do realize winter has just started? Sheesh.
Let’s hope we get some snow in the near future.
