Good Monday to one and all and thanks for taking the time out to stop by and blog with us. We are coming off of an AWESOME weekend across the state. Temps hit the low 70s for afternoon highs under mostly sunny skies. That trend looks to continue for a few more days.
That few more days will take us into Election Day. Since this is a presidential race… here is what I am expecting with the national weather…
Much of the country will be seeing VERY warm weather which should drive voter turnout. That includes here in good old Kentucky as temps once again hit the low 70s under sunny skies. As is usually the case… this is a weather blog so the ONLY thing we talk about is the weather and the effect is has on voters!
I’m your friendly weather dude and I approve this message! ![]()
The days of the warm temps are just numbered as a front will move toward the area by late Thursday into Friday. Some showers and thunderstorms should accompany the front as it swings through, but I am not expecting anything more than a quarter to half inch of rain out of this.
Colder air will quickly move in behind the front for Saturday and Sunday. This air mass does not look as cold as the last one, but it should get pretty close because as we are in November now and the normals are coming down. There looks to be a few disturbances that want to swing across the state over the weekend and this can lead to a rain or snow shower. Highs Saturday and Sunday should be in the 40s.
You can see this cold shot on the European model…
Saturday
Sunday
Next week continues to look like an active weather week across the country as we track several areas of low pressure. Let’s hope this is indeed the case as it’s a pattern that can grow increasingly wet around here.
Cold air continues to build up in Canada and will come pouring into the country as we get close to the middle of the month. Exactly when it decides to really pull the trigger is up in the air… but all the signs are there for an early start to winter across the eastern half of the country. Yes… this does include our neck of the woods! ![]()
I will be getting some stuff together on all that in the next few days and I hope to make that the star of the my first video forecast later this week! Ahhh… the things I do for you people! ![]()
Have a great Monday and take care!

Thanks Chris for the update…I approve that forecast as well. 🙂
Wonder if we paid off the weather dude if that would improve our chances of snow?? 😛 LOL I’m sure that’s a chance that you’d be willing to take Chris! :O
Thank you Chris. I am really looking forward to winter. I can hardly wait so we can get this blog back to normal. Hope everyone enjoys the nice weather for the next couple of days and don’t forget to get out and vote!
Better get those Christmas lights strung up outside while its still warm..
I think I might work on that today. I am looking forward to the video forecasts, I’ve been waiting for this since Chris started this blog…It’s like Emeril the chef says: BAM !! lets kick it up another notch!!!..LOL…
Looks like the chances of a WHITE THANKSGIVING are getting better every day…or at least a cold one…Yuck nothing like COLD TURKEY.. Hmmm.. its about time to start thinking up some of those goofy holiday jingles..LOL..I know, your saying JUST KEEP THEM TO YOURSELF..LOL…later all
I’m all about the White Thanksgiving Tim! Bring it on! I think that would be so much fun!
WILL THIS BE A NOVEMBER TO REMEMBER????
I Believe for some parts of the nation it will indeed….
BLIZZARD FOR THE TUESDAY BEFORE TURKEY DAY!!
Naaa.. just kidding. My 1.7″ snowfall total for the season forecast almost worked out great last year…until that late Winter 6″ snow we got. I’m thinking more of the same this year…although we are due for a snowy Winter now climatologically.
Here is hoping for another busted Wxman forecast. BTW SE KY prob seen 1.7 inches if that 🙁
I’d say around 5″ or 6″ is what we’ll see again this winter. Just my guess… I’m about sick and tired of these wimpy winters around here.
John B on wave3 blog sure don’t see winter anytime soon he has 60’s and 70’s in his 14 day outlook with only a few days in the 50’s
winter storm warnings west of the divide in colorado, i was ramblin around the esienhower tunnel and vail back in may and it snowed so fierce it was hard to believe it was may, about a foot or so fell, hopefully we’ll be in the same boat this winter, we are bigtime due for a solid and nastier than average winter start to finish. last cold and snow start to finish was 2002-2003, since winters have been relativley mild and big snows havent been followed by prolonged cold spells
i can allready feel my addiction to this blog growing and its not even december o gosh once winter 08-09 haha i am always optomistic no matter wat the pacific water temps say lol i have been dissapointed by winter in lexington to the point of making a point to control the weather, only if i could, anyway officially addicted again!!!!
